Warplanes hit Fallujah targets after death of 7 marines
Deutsche Presse-Agentur

Roadside bombing in Baghdad wounds three U-S soldiers

U.S. warplanes conducted air strikes on the Iraqi flashpoint city of Fallujah, following a car bomb attack that killed seven U.S. soldiers and three members of the Iraqi National Guard.

Eyewitnesses said U.S. planes bombarded targets in the northeast of the city, destroying a number of buildings. ..

1. Collective punishment
being administered. It must be very frustrating to be a U.S. Marine today. Just wanna lash out and kill everybody. How dare those Iraqis try to occupy our oil colony.

14. Yep, along with mass reprisals
Which are, of course, against that quaint document that is the Geneva Conventions. Would someone please explain to this corrupt administration that the GC are the supreme law of our land, along with our other treaty obligations and the Constitution?

Oh Mr. Bush! You have a date at The Hague.

2. Typical.
Kind of like when US artillery fired on civilian homes during Operation Iron Hammer when insurgents shot down a helicopter.

I forget the quote the general in charge of the operation made, but it was something about making them (the civilians) pay dearly.

5. Taken out of the IDF playbook
and we know how "successful" the IDF has been in eliminating terrorism.

This tit-for-tat will continue until the last American soldier is out of Iraq, alive or dead.

6. I find this most interesting
in light of a recent piece in the NYT, that claimed that Najaf was caused by Marine units acting outside of their orders.

At the time I wrote that command and control problems were not typically released to the press, because this might give the enemy some advantage. (The piece also claimed that the Fallujah fight was the fault of Marine units acting outside of orders.)

So now the marines have been struck at Fallujah. Coincidence? Or are we playing into our enemies' hands... and are certain people giving away the farm to gain any political advantage, no matter how transient?

The more I see of this administration, the sicker I get. Whatever happened to protecting the national security? Don't the American people care anymore?

7. AmeriKan people think we are safer...
Like the repuke operative on crossfire just said.. "because we are taking the war to the terrorists". Why Carville and the rest don't debunk this ameriKan myth is beyond me.

11. Now this is certainly a brave response!
Our glorious military sends a high speed jet over the landscape and drops some bombs!

Lets all stand now and recite the pledge of allegiance!

They will need to drop millions of bombs and kill every Iraqi citizen to prevent anymore attacks on our beloved fighting men. At this point, if we began a campaign of genocide against the citizens of Iraq, 50% of the USA would go along gladly.

12. Nazi like mentality.
Insurgents kills 7 and US kills 3x that.

I really think it's time that Americans support the troops and demand that the troops come home and actually protect America.
