Dean slams GOP at San Diego rally
Dean slams GOP at San Diego rally

Labor Day talk for candidates in area
By Daniel J. Chacón
UNION-TRIBUNE STAFF WRITER
September 7, 2004

NANCEE E. LEWIS / Union-Tribune
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean held up a pen, attempting to find its owner, at the Labor Day rally held yesterday by Democrats at Mount Acadia Park in Clairemont. The onetime candidate for president was mobbed by autograph seekers near the end of the benefit for local candidates.

Former presidential candidate Howard Dean energized a crowd of supporters yesterday when he stopped in San Diego to campaign for a slew of Democrats while taking shots at prominent Republicans.

During a rally at Mount Acadia Park in Clairemont, Dean urged the group of about 200 to do more than vote. Standing on top of a concrete picnic table with his sleeves rolled up, the former governor of Vermont encouraged people to run for office, contribute money, volunteer and get involved.
(snip)

Dean, who showed up at the rally about an hour late because of a flight delay, used his platform to slam Republicans. He said Vice President Dick Cheney "needs a brain transplant" and that Georgia Sen. Zell Miller, a Democrat who blasted presidential nominee John Kerry at the Republican National Convention, may be in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease.
(snip/...)

1. Ah! We have a doctor's opinion
about Miller and Alzheimer's. It is good to know Dean is still out there fighting.

into 3rd-party candidacy and take his supporters with him, like some power-crazed renegade.
Can I now rub your noses in how wrong you were?

4. Woooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooo
I love you, man. You go Dr. Dean

I hope there is a re run for this man in another election. The country missed a great opportunity here I think. I didn't get behind him at first...my bad.

Now I see him as a terrific person. I hope he stays with it/with us.

WTG DEAN!!

9. I still feel...
that Dean is a better candidate for Pres. than Kerry. It's ABB in my view for a whole lot of us on the Left. Of course, my pick would have been Kucinich. After studying J. Kerry's views I definetly do not feel that much will change if he gets elected, esp. on the foreign policy issues.
