Bush's Youth Under Scrutiny
After weeks in which the political discourse was nearly dominated by the scrutinizing of Sen. John F. Kerry's conduct in the Vietnam War era, President Bush now may find himself under the microscope and on the defensive for actions in his past.

Kerry supporters are actively questioning Bush's spotty record as a stateside National Guardsmen during the Vietnam War. A former senior politician in Texas is telling people he pulled strings to get Bush into the guard.

And an Associated Press investigation has concluded that key documents that should have been written to explain gaps in Bush's guard service are missing.

Jill Zuckman writes in the Chicago Tribune: "Across Ohio and into West Virginia over the Labor Day weekend, Kerry supporters took to the campaign stage with mocking, caustic, scornful rhetoric directed at President Bush's military service and Vice President Dick Cheney's lack of service."

10. I wish it hadn't come to this either
There should not be a need to dig up Bush's past beyond the last 4 years. He has been AWOL from the Presidency (to which he was never elected) for the past 4 years. If that isn't enough, nothing that happened 35 years ago will matter.

11. There is every reason to bring up
Bush's past. He is an alcoholic which destroys brain cells and he was a cocaine user which destroys brain cells. In my estimation both disqualify him for the highest office in this nation.

He also deserted from the National Guard (awol is not the right term) because of the amount of time missing.

These points alone make a person wonder what else he has done that we don't know about because his records are missing.

14. There is every reason to bring it all up, but...
if the objective is to persuade the undecided, the more recent the time span that you focus on, the more relevant the information will seem to the undecided. This is just my opinion. Sure his drug addiction is an issue, but not to the millions of baby boomer's who once smoked pot, drank way too much and quit doing that 25 years ago. Nor is it an issue to the millions of people who currently use drugs and alcohol that will be voting in November. His Natl Guard service is an issue to some, but not to the millions who already know that just being in the Natl Guard in those days was the same thing as being AWOL from the war.

In my opinion, the issues are the stolen election, the war in Iraq, the mud slinging campaign, the patriots act, the economy, jobs, social security, and the fact that Bush has done the exact opposite of everything he said he would do when he was campaigning 4 years ago. Just a comparison between the statements he made during the Bush vs. Gore debates and his actions since, should be enough for anyone with half a mind to make an informed decision.

I can't for the life of me see why this is a close election.

20. The logical mantra
I definitely agree with olddad......the DNC's matra should be "Watch what they do, and not what they say"-- to characterize the mo of the Republican party, and especially the Bush White House.....

Compassionate?......to whom?????

Aging population with increases of Medicare Pt B premiums?
Gays and lesbians? I do not think so.....
People of color? Last time I checked on the Bush push to dismantle affirmative action.....
No child left behind???? Yes, they did cut funding for this educational mandate....

26. What else? I suspect vehicular homicide or some such crime.

He was given a brand new drivers license and his old license was cleansed. What would necessitate a new driver license? It had to be something really serious if his old license was a danger to his political future. Maybe it was the old rumored cocaine bust?

I just don't want it to be "Kerry supporters" or the "Kerry campaign" that gets associated with it. This should be handled by surrogates. Really it should be led by the media but of course we can't count on them.

4. Critical mass. Aren't you glad SBVf"T" blew their wad in August?
Fortunately, Kerry had to deal with this bullshit before Labor Day.

Bush is in for one hell of a shitstorm, and it's less than 60 days before the election.

6. Kitty Kelly takes James Hatfield's story to the mainstream.
Watch this thing take off now. The Bush Crime Family forced Hatfield to kill himself. Thanks to KK he didn't die in vain. Who would have thought it would be Kitty Kelly of all people? SBVFT was a huge mistake. When the country finds out what the Bush family really is even the Christians won't be able to ignore it. :) The tabloids always put KK on the front of their weeklys. It will be right in the check-out lines. NINE MORE DAYS.......

He got too close and knew too much and was suicided.

younger than this in wars and they're calling it "bush's youth." Have you heard anyone refer to Kerry's Vietnam Service as "Kerry's youthful years."

15. NEW Bushism
"For Bush, it was the second time in three days that he announced an unintended policy position. In Erie, Pa., on Saturday, he said: 'I went to the Congress last September and proposed fundamental -- supplemental funding, which is money for armor and body parts and ammunition and fuel.'

"Presumably he meant 'money for body armor and parts.' "

28. Any other dope we should know about?
I didn't want to start a new thread about this, but what is John Kerry's drug history (known or possible), if any? Or Edwards's, for that matter?

Kerry looks and acts like all his brain cells are there. It would be easy to get a meme going about how Bush looks smashed most of the time. I'm not saying it would be right, mind you :P I'm just saying it wouldn't be that difficult. I mean, he is this weird purplish sort of color whenever I see him, which thankfully isn't often.
