Statement by John Edwards on Cheney Comments About Terrorism
U.S. Newswire

Senator John Edwards released the following statement today in response to comments made by Dick Cheney in Iowa that America is more likely to be attacked if John Kerry and John Edwards are elected in November:

"Dick Cheney's scare tactics crossed the line today, showing once again that he and George Bush will do anything and say anything to save their jobs. Protecting America from vicious terrorists is not a Democratic or Republican issue, it's an American issue and Dick Cheney and George Bush should know that.

"John Kerry and I will keep America safe, and we will not divide the American people to do it." ..

14. He's got a pack of reporters following his tour bus...
... you stop the bus and say, "We gotta talk."

They're hungry for some red meat. So give it to 'em.

5. I'm gonna use Cheney's line from now on....
"fire me and terrorists will strike the US AGAIN!!!" Hell, if Cheney thinks this bs can work for him, then why shouldn't I think it works for me too??

:silly:

10. Sweet little Daisy Cheney
was hammering JK about "diplomacy"... I wonder if he remembers back to when they decided to pffffft the french fries.... and the disrespect they showed the U.N., and their willingness to include (out of desperation) some of the most brutal dictatorships on the planet in their "coalition of the coerced".

He needs to soak his head. He is just an angry old man who has screwed this country much more than is necessary to make a point. The point is, many Americans sit there and say... "thank you sir... can I have another?".

16. A lot like the Oral Roberts' "God will call me home" threat...
...if he didn't raise millions of dollars from his followers.

The Bushistas are getting desperate. If they start pulling this crap, we'll know Kerry is winning...

7. Why is it that those of us most likely to be targeted
i.e., the big cities, are the least likely to vote Republican. WE do not feel safer under the chimpministration. They are not targeting the bible belt, they are targeting the economy and our liberalism, (just like the chimps).

You go Senator. This is exactly the correct response everytime the Republicans wave the bloody shirt.

15. Now that's a COUNTERPUNCH!
We have to counterpunch fast and hard, then go back on message.

This is what Kerry learned with the Swift Boat Liars for Hire. He's learned to slam them back hard (pointing to their commection with Rove et al.) and then go back on message. This is what Carville is for.

(Edwards comes by it naturally--or through his trial lawyer instincts--and has been doing this for some time.)

17. Edwards should point out
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 05:48 PM by phiddle
that Bush and Cheney had their chance to protect America and FAILED. Al Qaida was relegated to second rate status at the beginning of the administration, Bush went on vacation, FBI leads were not followed up, intelligence warnings from 12 friendly nations were not taken seriously, the Hart-Rudman recommendations for security were not put into place, and the result was FAILURE.

They then had bin Laden cornered and FAILED to get him, pulling troops out of Afghanistan to fight in the wreck in Iraq.

FAILED is a word that should be hung around this president at every opportunity. It describes every facet of his life: as a student, National Guardsman, businessman, father, governor and president.

...and are undermining it every day to enrich the oil companies, defense contractors and other corporate beneficiaries of their fraudulent and bankrupt policies.

Their PR program is the understandable one expected of an unelected fascist regime. Their national defense policies are deliberately designed to create ongoing national security crises in order to keep their illegitimate regime in power.

Their regime's policies are bizarre and corrupt to say the least.

I heard a CNN commentator say today that he expected that American deaths in Iraq would reach 1000 "in a several weeks." Odd in light of the widely reported milestone in print and internet media. Perhaps he had been getting his info from Wolfowitz. We know he doesn't trouble himself about the number of dead. Neither does Herr Rumsfeldt:

<Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld cited progress on multiple fronts in the Bush administration's global war on terrorism and said U.S. enemies should not underestimate the willingness of the American people and its coalition allies to suffer casualties in Iraq and elsewhere.>

A bizarre rationalization of a military failure in Iraq.
