Carter calls Millers GOP speech disloyal
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 06:06 PM by JoFerret
Typical of this great man - Carter - to leave it to that frightened neurotic Miller to be the one to release the message. Hope, strength and community triumph over fear for Carter every time. Vice versa for the Millerites and those who choose to exploit fear.

WASHINGTON - Former President Jimmy Carter is accusing fellow Georgia Democrat Zell Miller of "unprecedented disloyalty" for the senator's speech at the Republican convention.

In a letter sent over the weekend, Carter also called Miller's speech "rabid and mean-spirited."

"By now, there are many of us loyal Democrats who feel uncomfortable in seeing that you have chosen the rich over the poor, unilateral pre-emptive war over a strong nation united with others for peace, lies and obfuscation over the truth and the political technique of character assassination as a way to win elections or to garner a few moments of applause," Carter wrote. The letter was made public by Miller's office; Carter's office declined to release it.

Miller responded Tuesday by repeating his contention, made in the convention speech last week, that the security of his family outweighed any loyalty to the party where he has spent a lifetime.

2. He should have called it the debunked email trash that it
was! Snopes debunked the majority of the trash in his speech months ago!

3. Oy!
Carter is a gent and takes the high ground his way. Good for Carter -reminding us that there can be a high ground. We should always take that ground - even when we are also dragged to wrestle the repigs into the mud they churn.

8. to most Repukes Zell is just another fool taking the bait..
During his speech at the Republican convention most delegates thought of Zell as that big fish to be mounted on the wall, not as a conservative Democrat who should be respected. They cheered for Zell in the same way Republican voters cheered for Majette when she ran against McKinney, not as a hero fighting for their side but a sucker who would give all his money to buy the next lemon. :nopity:

Perhaps Zell thought his speech was a huge hit among Republicans, but in reality he was seen as just another crazy Democrat to laugh at. If John Lewis stood in front of the KKK and gave the same type of speech, the reaction would have been no different!

4. Calling Denise Majette:
It is now safe to disown your former benefactor.

MAKE A STATEMENT. MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

6. i guess Zell will be looking for
a duel now.

Hope Carter is allowed to choose the weapon of choice, and he chooses intellect.

Zell, thus, is an unarmed opponent.
