Cheney Warns of Terror Risk if Kerry Wins
Cheney Warns of Terror Risk if Kerry Wins
By DAVID E. SANGER and DAVID M. HALBFINGER

COLUMBIA, Mo., Sept. 7 - Stepping up the battle over national security, Vice President Dick Cheney warned on Tuesday that the country would be at risk of a terror attack if it made "the wrong choice" in November, and President Bush accused Senator John Kerry of adopting the antiwar language of his Democratic primary rival Howard Dean.

Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney delivered their accusations in separate appearances as Mr. Kerry, for the second day in a row, attacked Mr. Bush's "wrong choices." The Democratic contender said that of all of them "the most catastrophic choice is the mess that he has made in Iraq."

The debate was underscored as the deaths of American military personnel and Defense Department civilians working in Iraq reached 1,000.

Mr. Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee, called it a "tragic milestone" and a reminder that "we must meet our sacred obligation to all our troops to do all we can to make the right decisions in Iraq so that we can bring them home as soon as possible."

3. Dunno...

I haven't been able to read a full news story all day and was just browsing the NYT site and saw that as story to be published tomorrow.

Could be, but I'm not sure it matters. It's out there.

7. That's what it is.
Even their faithful stooges know 9/11 was a MIHOP and that they'll do it again if voters make the foolish mistake of sending them down the poop chute where they belong.

8. He threatens "we'll get back to that pre-9/11 mindset"...
Hey Dick...weren't you and your dummy in charge pre-9/11?
I believe if you check back you'll see that you owned the "pre-9/11 mindset" yourselves...assuming you've a mind to set, of course.

21. So right. Think like you're a gangster or on a recess playground
and everything these guys do makes sense.

Truly, the "appeal" that Junior has is the same prurient appeal that characters have in gangster movies: deep down, many people would like to disobey the rules, smash things and do as they please.

This rebellion against civilization is the same joy selfish people get from deregulation and world conquest: to be loosed of the chains of constraint with which "little" people have bound them. Remember that economic policy pamphlet published by the administration when they first came in? There was a drawing of Gulliver on the beach, tied down to stakes by the Lilliputians of the U.N.

Remember all those stereotypic jokes about Texas blowhards? That's what we are to the rest of the world.

15. They have had to go off their timing to expend ALL
their dirty strategies until the satan-ex-machina arrives. This is a classic, but meanly used in a small way.

The best example I saw of that was when the very night before election the supposedly neutral French President Pompidou(Gaullist) just had to make a nationwide TV warning that a vote for the Socialists threatened to deliver the nation to the Communists. Dieu sauve la France!

The Socialists howled and lost. But Cheney has spent too much capital too often. Now he sounds like a discredited crank and the spite lingers after him like a skunk trail.

besides, i hear the Bush camp ranting all the time about how the US is at risk of terrorist attacks, in spite of their claims that the US is safer because of Bush's war on terrorism.
So why would they use that risk as an argument against Kerry? Just doesn't make sense.

23. Well, I guess that when Senator Kerry is elected.....
ole' Dickhead Cheney better run for cover like he did the last time we had a terrorist attack. Maybe he can go back to his underground bunker so we don't have to look at his snarling, ugly mug any more. I, for one, can't wait.

24. Let's Look At This Logically
1. Has Cheney just issued a bond-if the Scream Team holds on to power for 4 more years (breathe deeply) then we can killl them, ala Jozef Conrad (Lord Jim) for breaking the vow in the event any little terrorist thing comes down the pike?

2. Is this a confession that 9/11 was a GOP plan to win an election--Making it happen on purpose?

3. Is this a threat--elect us or else we blow up something?

People who live in glass houses really ought to not throw such stones. It's called arming the enemy.
