7. FOX is obviously RW, but the FOX poll has been pretty good.
Showing "better" results than most of the other legit polling firms have.

Of course they could just be setting us up.

15. I had to laugh at O'Reilly showing other poll results but not FOX.
Too funny.

18. Shows a bias, eh?
I know - it obviously does. I always get a kick out of how people view news through glasses colored by ideology.

We do the same thing here. Watch how one poll is legitimate one day and a right wing propoganda machine the next - just based on what numbers they show.

Rasmussen's poll was the worst in 2000 and (nationally at least) Zogby was the best. Now they are both touted as the accurate ones while the rest are sputing Rove's fake numbers. Why? Because we like what they are saying. If Rasmussen goes back to being 7 pts toward Bush day after day? He'll be a shill again.

4. These are "great" numbers??
I am by no means a chicken little alarmist, but, the Fox News Poll is the closest one since the convention! Seriously, looking at www.pollingreport.com, shrub looks to be ahead by 7 or 8 points. If you think these numbers are good, perhaps we should think "why?" is Fox bringing out a poll like this, unless it was to 1)Be honest (HA!!!) or 2)To scare the republican base and get them motivated.

Could they be that devious? OF COURSE!! This fight is long from over, and quite frankly, I am not happy with the way things are looking. I've heard even New Jersey is to about 4 points for Kerry, and that is too damn close for my taste. It should be 14%!!

Get out there, get the word out, get motivated!!

6. IF Bush is below 50% it IS great
Nadar's vote will collapse. He won't even be on the ballot in some places -- possibly including Florida. The undecided will most break for the challenger, as they mostly always do.

Bush is now being hammered by events.

In the CBS poll, Kerry was getting only 80% of the democratic vote, while Bush was getting 90% of the Republican vote. Those remaining not yet convinced democrats are probably the easiest votes for Kerry to move.

Bush seems to have a ceiling of less than 50%. Many polls seem to demonstrate this.

That's why the numbers are great.

Of course, there is still LOTS of work to do. And we're doing it.

Keep the faith. We will win this thing.

9. always keep in mind
when you are following polls; they ONLY poll people who are registered or have voted before.

polls don't count the massive movement among youth and people who haven't previously voted to get Bush out.

10. Also - (and by the way, WELCOME to DU, all you new ones!) remember
if this is from Pox "news," you'd ordinarily expect the most inflated, embarrassingly lopside pro-bush numbers possible. These aren't. Not by a LONG shot. Especially when you have a poll from an outfit that's already hugely predisposed toward giving bush EVERY advantage, both real AND imagined.

They also put the kibosh on any allegedly huge CONvention bump for bush. Eleven points according to some? Well, IF that were so, that bump sure flattened out in a hurry.

They show bush below 50 percent. That is MOST significant. History has proven over the last three-or-so decades (maybe more - I don't have the exact figures in front of me) that the incumbent who polls less than 50 percent - ESPECIALLY at this late date - tends to FAIL to win (re)election. Those incumbents - and I believe the list included Clinton, Reagan, and Nixon (don't remember if LBJ was in that accounting) were ABOVE 50 PERCENT - AND at points back in June and July.

It does indeed NOT count the voters who are new arrivals, either because they're only now old enough to vote, OR they've become motivated to register and get off their butts this time. And I suspect that most of them are gonna go for Kerry.

Also, remember what's to come:

-MORE concentration on the 1,000th American death in Iraq.
-Kitty Kelley's book, which people WILL be talking about (the all-important water cooler stuff at work) whether Larry King and the other TV bush-patsies boycott her or not.
-Howard Stern - who IS probably going to eat, breathe, sleep, and excrete the Kitty Kelley stuff. Not to mention all the regular day-to-day bush-bashing he's engaging in. He REACHES those young, white males. They take him seriously.
-The AWOL stuff. Only gathering momentum. New momentum.
-Michael Moore - prepared to strike anew with the DVD release of "Fahrenheit 9/11" in OCTOBER, and the ensuing publicity. Plus, he's agitating for his film to be shown on TV before the election. So far, no dice, but you NEVER know...
-Kerry and Edwards are slowly starting to fight back harder. Not hard enough, mind you, but at least they can start spending money again now.
-Texans for Truth, MoveOn.org, and other 527s that are friendly to Democrats and liberals and especially Kerry. They're not gonna go away.
-And watch for some of those statistics, like maybe the jobs figures that were only slightly up last month, to be revised DOWNWARD. Watch the other economic stats, too, especially the price of gas, AND the pre-Christmas season (lately, starting before Halloween, even!).

Meantime, GUYS: YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. FIRST ABOVE ALL ELSE: DO NOT GET COMPLACENT. DO NOT SIT ON YOUR BUTTS. GET OUT THERE AND BE PART OF THE SOLUTION TO THIS NIGHTMARE! If you don't, think how you'll feel on November 3rd...

14. kick
WHy is the frigging ABC poll getting press and THIS ONE, which shows a dead heat, is being ignored?

Fox News is not even touting its own poll, because it doesn't show Bush ahead by much.

The bias is overwhelming.

16. If it's Bush 47, Kerry 45 in a Fox poll
It's Kerry in a landslide in November. One of the local "stealth" freeper radio stations (I heard because a co-worker listens incessantly) had an informal poll that came out 50-50. That's a huge victory for Kerry if a freeper station can't get their listeners to give * a big lead.
