White House Says Kerry's Desperation Behind Guard Attacks
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)

The Bush administration said Thursday the latest spate of accusations to surround President George W. Bush's service in the National Guard are being motivated by a growing desperation in the campaign of Democratic rival Sen. John Kerry.

"These are the same old recycled attacks that we see every time the President is up for election. It's not surprising that you see a coordinated effort by Democrats to attack the President when Senator Kerry is falling behind in the polls," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said.

Earlier in the day, The Washington Post reported that Bush's commander in the National Guard suspended him as a qualified fighter pilot because Bush defied a direct order to get a physical.

Previously, it had only been known that Bush failed to get the physical, not that he was ordered to do so, and then didn't do it. ,,

2. Bush should talk about all those good times he had in the guard
Bring in all his buddies from Alabama that remember him, and thought he was a good pilot.... what, can't find any? That's odd...

3. Well, I guess they could write the book on Desperatioin...
..lets see: Swift Boat attacks, implying wounds were self-inflicted, accussing fellow candidates of having a black child out of wedlock, comparing a war hero to a terrorist, making jokes about trial lawyers, scaring people into voting for them...all stinks of desperation

4. In translation from Bushspeak, that means
White House In Desperation Behind Guard Attacks.

(Wait. Kerry didn't start the guard investigation. I recall that someone other than the Kerry campaign was looking into this, and from many years back.)

5. If Bush had released all of his military records four years ago
There wouldn't be questions now. If Bush hadn't stonewalled every request for his records, only letting them go in dribs and drabs, there wouldn't be questions now. And if Bush would just be honest with the American people and just tell us the truth, there still wouldn't be questions now.

Answer the question W. Then maybe we will stop asking. Did you or did you not fulfill your commitment to the National Guard?

9. You know, its not like this story ever went away,,,
It was there all the time, back in 1999 when he started his campain..it was just not played up as much as the goofy things they tried to paint Mr Gore with.

You think that if you ignore it long enough it would go away?

Pulling the sheets over ones eyes does not make the darkness go away, it just hides one from the same darkness your scared of, hence, trying to deflect the story with a made-up story will not stop it from being true.

If the President had the sense he would have met this head on and dealt with it long ago and/or debunk it if he could..its just biting him in the backside and he is worried it will not go away this time. Why should it?..its showing to be too true.

The longer you wait the worse it gets....

===============================
BUSH ATTACKED NAT'L GUARD SERVICE OF OTHERS
The White House is currently attacking those who raise
questions about President Bush's National Guard record. They say the questions about Bush's failure to fulfill his commitment are "dirty politics."<1> Yet a look at the record shows that it was President George H.W. Bush - and his top campaign
strategist George W. Bush - who tried to smear the National Guard and military record of their opponents.
As reported in the August 23, 1988 Los Angeles Times, then Vice President George H.W. Bush's campaign co-chairman John Sununu went on national television to impugn an opponent's dealings with the National Guard during Vietnam. Sununu specifically claimed Sen. Lloyd Bentsen (D-TX) had
improperly helped get his son into the Texas National Guard during Vietnam. Bentsen's son served in the very same National Guard unit at the very same time as George W. Bush. The Bush campaign's attacks came just days after Bush's allies on Capitol Hill launched a vicious attack on Gov. Michael Dukakis (D-MA) for receiving a draft deferment during the Korean War.
<2>
At the time of the coordinated attack, George W. Bush was serving as a senior adviser to his father's campaign.<3>
