Bill Clinton returns home after surgery.
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040910/ap_on_re_us/bill_clinton_health_86

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. - Former President Bill Clinton (news - web sites) left the hospital and returned home Friday, four days after undergoing heart bypass surgery, his office said.

Clinton arrived early Friday evening at his home in the New York suburb of Chappaqua, according to his spokesman, Jim Kennedy.

"The President is in good spirits and has taken short walks in the hospital hallway and in his home today," Kennedy said in a prepared statement.

The 58-year-old Democrat was taken off his respirator and placed in an intensive care unit on Monday. On Wednesday, he was moved back to his hospital room, where he walked with assistance, sat in his bed and sat up in his chair.

Sorry if this is a dupe.

1. Okay, I just need to vent.
I have a complete crush on the doctor who performed surgery on Clinton. Dr. Craig Smith is his name. Unfortunately, he is a Bush supporting republican, but I forgive him because he saved Big Dog's life.

That is all. Whew! I feel better.

2. I have a feeling the Dr. will be a Clinton supporter too.
After meeting Clinton, I'm sure he wasn't disappointed. Who wouldn't be smitten with Clinton? Hey, I like that...."SMITTEN WITH CLINTON"

4. I think you're right.
Even ol' turd Newt Gingrich himself admitted to being charmed completely by Big Dog. I'd love to meet the guy, but I'm sure I'd be completely dumbstruck! :loveya:

Have you ever met anyone in person who has the charisma of Bill Clinton? I haven't.

3. I'm happy that you got that off your chest!
:)
Was your crush based on the press conferences, or do you have more detailed knowledge of the good doctor?

6. Excellent news! After my dads 6-wks at St. Joe in Atlanta last year ...

I was worried that Clinton might have to be in a while. Dad, 84 now, had a esophagectomy (years of acid-reflux resulted in an esophageal cancer). Due to the chest-cutting he was in the cardiac ICU for over a week and recovered on the cardiac floor. I saw plenty of post-bypass patients on his floor. None went home as soon as Clinton has. Of course Clinton will have the best home health care available. Good. He earned it.

Don't over-do it Big Dog, but you are kind of needed to help beat this Bu$h feller. Get well and welcome back.

9. Demo: sorry about your Dad...
My 55 year old cousin suffers from esophagectory from acid-reflux. She's a bipolar super hyper person and that has caused her sickness. The drugs she's getting have doubled her weight, and her personality is worse than ever. I love her very much but I can't stand to be with her more than an hour...so sad.

10. Thanks, RML. Actually, he is doing great now.
The removal of his entire esophagus was radical. His stomach is in his chest cavity, connected to his lower throat. He had a rough six months after the surgery in May 2003, but is doing great now. He and my mom are coming up here to the mountains in the next few weeks (where he will eat my famous pulled-pork) and we will all go to my brother's beach house at Grayton Beach in October (where he will eat gumbo, fried okra, and boiled shrimp).

12. re the bipolar
was she staying on the proper level of meds, I know about the weight gain from the drugs... I had a friend like that and they can be extremely hard to take for any length of time. They can be really bossy, know-it-alls, argumentative, etc.

16. I'll bet all the home-care nurses Hillary hired are MALE!
So glad Bill is going home. I sure wish he were on the campaign trail for Kerry, but we need him for the long haul, too.
