8. It is not reported because
the media has been shocked and awed
by the strength and endurance of the Iraqis.
And,
the embeds have long since been evacuated.

27. and because Bush said the war was over
and because the media, owned 99.99999999999% by GOP types, doesn't want the public to vote for Kerry. They just don't want it to look like the quagmire it has become, they don't want to start using the word "draft", they don't want to start using the phrase "civil war" etc. Those things make Bush look a little on the bad side.

when it comes to bombs and strikes in Iraq. I never hear anything more.

Ever wonder if the school or road or housing project our soldiers just worked on was blown up?

What did these poor souls do to deserve us?

I spologize to any military person who is offended that I state that I support all of you who signed up out of loyalty to your country but ended up fighting for this Halliburton and KBR war.

from the safety of their hotel rooms. Also it probably is so routine.

11. J. Kerry's Pipedream.
He keeps saying that he will Intl-ize this Colonization. The Iraqis that are not subdued by the bombings and terror of the US and the Occupation will not accept more foreign intervention to dominate and monopolize their country.

Kerry should reconsider his Iraq policy and state that after much soul searching that the Occupation must end ASAP. It matters not what spin the Neo Fascists would place on that. If 80% Dems and the Left voted for Kerry/Edwards they would win. Trying to appeal to moderates, swing voters &/or undecideds is a waste of time, money and energy. The Afro-American and Hispanic voters should be paid more attention to. Most registered Dems will vote for Kerry/Edwards. The tide is turning. The number of Americans feeling that Iraq was a mistake is expanding.

Support the troops. Bring them home.!

13. Recently I heard at least 3 different reporters (2 females) say that Iraq
is worse now...and the females can't go out without being covered. That was never the case under SH.

They had absolutely nothing good to say...they did say the military officers who were escorting them around Baghdad were talking up how the US is going to creat all these new things around the city..the reporters looked at each other and thought...sure...and here we are with helmets and flak vests on....so...the spin is going nowhere.

28. but tell me what you think will happen if the US leaves?
the Iraq army, police etc., are not trained. Will it go into chaos, looting, ethnic fighting or whatever, etc., far more than is happening now? Can we leave it like that before they have elections?

By the way I am not looking for an argument at all, just what you think will be the outcome if we got out now. I say this from the standpoint that the US soldiers are hated, granted, but they are bringing some order (through force) there.

16. Remember when this type of thing was *really* LBN?
The news from Iraq is so buried now...I bet you won't find many people who know how many soldiers died last week, or the week before.

Is it just commonplace now? Iraq is a mess, we created it, but it doesn't seem to matter in this country anymore. Sad sad sad.

18. To care... people have to hear about it
It's the adage about the tree falling in the forest....

When Kerry takes office, then you will see first hand killing, dying and blood running in the streets of Iraq.

The counter will be rewound to number killed since Kerry took office.
Bank on it!

17. As our quagmire continues on a downward spiral,...
,...the American people are still being sold, as the consumers that we are, on pure bullshit propaganda fed 24/7 via a corporate/state controlled media.

Makes me wish for an event that would suspend airwaves.

19. Who will be first to utter the blasphemy:
"Iraq was better off under Saddam"

(SHREEEEIIIIKKKK!) I don't think its permissible to say that in Murka, but I'm wondering what a poll of Iraqis would answer to such a question.

I'm guessing Howard Dean will be the only one who will have the chutzpah to utter those words, which will be followed by weeks of howling by repukes and dems alike, followed a couple of months later by begrudging acceptance of the statement. (Remember, he was the first to say that the world was not safer with Saddam captured and was derided for weeks)

22. We're not looking like the better alternative...
Saddam didn't bomb his cities.
He didn't have troops in the street, imposing martial law.
However, he did torture his people in prisons like Abu Ghraib..nevermind. MKJ

25. Update -- it sounds serious!
....Rocket and mortar barrages began about 5:30 a.m. and were continuing into the morning. Several rounds landed in the Green Zone, raising clouds of black smoke and triggering warning sirens.

The rattle of heavy machine gunfire echoed through Haifa Street, located on the western side of the Tigris river near the Green Zone and a ``no go'' area for international forces.

Three Bradley fighting vehicles could be seen moving toward the battle area, and a military vehicle was seen burning in the middle of the street.

U.S. soldiers could be seen taking up positions behind walls and trees along Haifa Street.

26. on "McLaughlin" show this evening
Eleanor Clift of "Newsweek" said she believed the country was now in civil war, that the US soldiers are totally staying out of whole areas of Iraq and that the Bush administration is trying to keep this as quiet as possible. Pat Buchanan thought we were very near civil war there and of course, Tony what's his name (Blakeley?)from the Washington Times said what's the problem. I have noticed there isn't much coverage on the news about Iraq the last few weeks.
