Police in India are on the lookout for people who received kidneys in an organ transplant racket.

The operation unearthed in the Indian capital New Delhi and is believed to be operation across the country.

4. That's nothing new
We Indians are masters at trading our kidneys to pay for this n that. There was even a very popular movie on the subject, where a soccer player trades his kidney to pay for his daddy's health bills and can't play soccer any more.
It's grim.

People from western nations pay up to a couple of hundred thousand while the donor gets very little, while also reducing his or her life span and certainly their quality of life. Any medical assistance/drugs needed after the op come out of the donation fee further reducing it's worth, but when you're hungry and have little else the world considers valuable....

I'd be willing to bet a kidney against $50,000 that there's a strong positive correlation between the Gini index in the country and the illicit sale of human transplant organs in that same country.
