Explosions Rock Baghdad Near U.S. Offices
1 minute ago

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A series of strong explosions shook central Baghdad near dawn Sunday, and columns of thick black smoke rose from the Green Zone where U.S. and Iraqi government offices are located.

The barrage began about 5:30 a.m. and continued for more than an hour. Some of the blasts appeared near Haifa Street, which has become a "no go" area for international forces.

Sirens were heard in the Green Zone area.

The U.S. command press office had no detailed report.

:( I only know a couple of people who have kids in Iraq, but how many families panic when they hear these reports? Not to mention the Iraqi families who live day in and day out with absolute terror.

JEEZ, this is just heartbreaking. Sometimes I just get this overwhelming feeling of regret - thinking that we could have done something to have stopped these madmen from beginning this slaughter. I can't imagine anyone would vote these psychotic people back into office.

May they all be dropped like bombs over the flaming pits of hell. That mother f---er started this bullshit war with absolutely no provocation and people are still going to vote for him?

I think she has a soul but she is sick in the head -- that usually wipes out everything else.

after 1 year in afghanistan he had completed his time and was sipposed to come home. He's been in Iraq for almost a year now. These are the stories that are the worst part, not knowing where exactly he is.

16. And the press will essentially ignore it because this Administration came
up with the "clever" strategy to claim that power is handed over to Iraqis and everything that is going on has nothing to do with the US.

Our boys and girls are getting killed over there and our press essentially ignores it. And the worst thing of all is that so many Americans are buying that bullshit.

Such a great country but so many brainless citizens...

21. They are just fireworks, part of the Iraqis' deliriously happy celebration
of our completely-welcomed presence. Someone told me that a friend told her that most Iraqis just worship the ground the U.S. troops march on--and she can't be wrong, can she?
