Millions' sneaking over US border
From correspondents in Washington
September 13, 2004

THREE million people are expected to enter the United States illegally this year, according to a report today.

The number of illegal immigrants, most of whom slip across the long border with Mexico, was three times the number of legal immigrants, Time magazine said. Border patrols only listed illegal immigrants as being Mexicans or from other nations, without keeping tallies on how many came from third countries, it said. But the list of other countries included Afghanistan, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Egypt, El Salvador, Guatemala, Iran, Iraq, Nicaragua, Russia and Venezuela.

Border controls have become a key political issue since the September 11, 2001 attacks, with critics fearing that would-be terrorists could illegally enter the country to conduct new strikes

4. Border Guards Could Have Stood Shoulder to Shoulder
US border guards could have stood shoulder to shoulder on the US--Mexican throughout 2001 and shot anything moving larger than a bottlecap and the death and destruction that happened on 9/11/2001 would ahve happened anyway--BECAUSE THE HIJAKCERS CAME IN THROUGH CANADA.

19. Media Info After the Hijackings
There was video being broadcast on the corporate media from airport surveillance cameras as well as broadcast news articles showing some of the terrorists at large at such places as Portland, Maine's airport, using ATM machines in Maine and Logan airport shortly after the 9/11/2001 attacks, and other unpleasant and inconvenient facts. I know because I remember seeing that video and those broadcasts and unlike, say, a right-wing Freeper, I think my say-so and my word is worth protecting and thus I try to speak the truth.

I may not think very highly of the courage or the integrity of the corporate broadcast media, but unlike such piffle-pushing right-wing "news" (propaganda) web sites that operate in the style of World Net Daily, even the US corporate media can be counted on to tell the truth at least once in a while. Once in a while isn't really good enough for a representative republic, but they are up to that.

For the geographically-challenged, Maine is in the extreme Northeast of the United States. The nearest foreign country is Canada.

11. More Than A Few
More than a few illegals cross over from Canada--especially from the Orient. Furthermore, at least a couple of the 9/11/2001 hijackers crossed over from Canada into Maine--unless the "meskin"-bashers would have us believe that a certain Canadian province is actually named Nueva Bronwick and despite all the photographic and printed evidence to the contrary, is actually situated somewhere between Baja California and Tamaulipas.

17. They use Canada as a point of entry
A couple of summers ago we had a few boats of Asian people wash up on the shores of BC, I understand that they were trying to get in to the US. Apparently they were supposed to make their way to New York and work off their passage in sweatshops. The poor people had to be desperate, the boats were filthy, unseaworthy hulks and the people would have been indentured for years.

8. That would be $100,000,000/mile for the entire US-Mexico border.
You could build one hell of a fence for that.

9. Borders
Did any of the September 11 terrorists sneak into the United States from Canada or Mexico?

No. The INS has concluded that all 19 of the hijackers entered the United States on legal visas, although three had visas that had expired.

10. sh*t on a pump handle
Damn right - our borders are NOT protected...neither are our nuclear power plants, or anything else domestically. NOTHING. ANYONE can come in here and do anything they want. Meanwhile, we're invading and occupying other countries? Excuse Moi but how dumb IS that?

Is George bu$h about as useful as shit on a pump handle, or what? Below, from John Kerry about this issue....

_ _ _ _

"They haven't done port security; they're cutting cops; they haven't taken
assault weapons off the streets. Firehouses are opened in Iraq; they're shut in
the United States. Port security: 95% of our containers come in, and they are
uninspected.

The fact is that these guys talk tough, but they haven't done what is necessary
to make America as safe as it can be. There have been more terrorist incidents
around the world in the last months than any time in recent history. Whole
parts of Iraq are under the control of terrorists, and they never were.
Afghanistan is exporting drugs like opium like never before, and whole parts of
the country are under the control of the Taliban and terrorists again.

We're in a stronger place than I've been in any campaign I've ever run before.
You looked at the polls; there wasn't one of you who said I'd be the nominee.
Well, I'm going to win this race because Americans want better leadership.

As we get into those cold days of October and people's juices begin to flow and
they measure us one to one, I'm confident that my record of fighting for this
country since I was a young man is going to eclipse the disastrous choices that
have been made by George Bush."

14. Maybe they could do an immigrant exchange
One Mexican moves north to US. One American moves north to Canada.

I read that the US doesn't keep track of out migration -- so, no numbers to report.

16. This is a primary reason unemployment seems stuck and wages stagnate.
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 11:53 PM by recidivist
There are lots of good reasons for controlling our borders. Reducing unemployment and raising wages are two. A third is a matter of personal preference, but for what it's worth, I think we're plenty crowded now and don't especially want my grandkids to inherit a country with a 1.5 billion population by the end of this century.

18. Wow, now this is really big news to somebody!
Maybe it's time to rekindle the "suitcase nukes" legend again, to stir up some paranoia, because we all know that we are safer with the chimp.
