Democrats hold "volunteer conventions"
WCHS-TV8 & AP

More than one thousand people turned out today at three events the state Democratic Party called "volunteer conventions."

A party press release says the events in Institute, Beckley, and Morgantown taught neighbor-to-neighbor, person-to-person campaign tactics to persuade undecided voters and encourage Democrats to vote.

Senator Jay Rockefeller is co-chairman of the Kerry-Edwards campaign in West Virginia. ..

The events were part of a series of more than 250 Victory 2004 Organizing Conventions in battleground states.

8. AZ, over 300 volunteers covering 3 cities...
not including Phoenix or the high mountains. The Hispanic community and the Native American communities held their own volunteer meetings.
It was huge!
