Absentee Votes Worry Officials as Nov. 2 Nears
As both major political parties intensify their efforts to promote absentee balloting as a way to lock up votes in the presidential race, election officials say they are struggling to cope with an array of coercive tactics and fraudulent vote-gathering involving absentee ballots that have undermined local races across the country.

Some of those officials say they are worried that the brashness of the schemes and the extent to which critical swing states have allowed party operatives to involve themselves in absentee voting - from handling ballot applications to helping voters fill out their ballots - could taint the general election in November.............

1. Perhaps this is how they plan to steal the election again. They will
use their politicos at the state level to put forth a shrub win based on ballots submitted prior to the "October Surprise".

Or it will be a bbv theft along with absentee manipulation either way surely they are planning a theft again.

2. Well, you can't trust the times. Perhaps they are trying to scare people
away from absentee voting. The NYT is NOT to be trusted.

6. It might be wise to check your voter registration records.
They don't waste the time and effort on people whose registration shows DFL.

7. I'm really worried about the counting of votes in this election...
both computerized and the old-fashioned way. I'm wondering if there'll be utter mayhem all across the country.

8. Sounds like a fear tactic
I've voted absentee for years. This year, the difference will be that I'll be following up with my elections office to make sure my vote has been counted. Perhaps we should all request that step too? Please prove to us that our vote was counted. I'll have my stub. I'd like them to look it up this year.

9. Excellent Idea Panda1! We should ALL keep our voting stub and request
to have them look it up....We all know that the election is going to be challenged (and surely for one or more reasons that are already obvious) so making our elections officials verify that our vote was counted will help us not only be sure it got counted but might point out problems....
