(West Haven-WTNH-Sept. 13, 2004 Updated 5:10 PM ) _ German-based Bayer, with a facility in West Haven, is cutting its workforce. Bayer says it has entered a strategic alliance with the Schering-Plough Corporation to have the New Jersey-based company market and distribute Bayer's primary care pharmaceutical products in the United States and Puerto Rico.

According to the terms of the agreement Schering-Plough will take over U.S. sales of Bayer’s primary care pharmaceutical products - antibiotics Avelox and Cipro, blood pressure drug Adalat and impotence treatment Levitra.

1. Yes, but did you hear about the new CXT pickup truck? It was on CNN!!!
It's nine feet tall and gets six miles per gallon of diesel.

That's much more fun and interesting than some silly ol' layoffs, isn't it, Mr. & Mrs. America? C'mon, don't be economic girlie-men! There's a whole world of exciting opportunities just out there a-knockin'!!

2. Does Schering-Plough outsource?
I see they're based in New Jersey, so the question is whether they'll be hiring Americans to take the new jobs that will have to be created to meet the contract, or whether they'll be sent to India. Anybody have any idea?

3. Technically, the German company outsourced
jobs into america the way I see it.
Did they set up shop in america to beat the German tax man?

It's a global thing.
