Never trust the US: Pro-US Afghan commanders land at Guantanamo
Two anti-Taliban military commanders who were arrested by the US military authorities in the Kunar province of Afghanistan some months ago had been shifted to the American naval base in Guantanamo Bay....

Roohullah, leader of a small Afghan Mujahideen group Jamaat-ud-Da’awa based in Kunar, was among the first anti-Taliban fighters to welcome the US forces in his native province. He and his military aide Sabar Lal also fired the first salvo against the Taliban in Kunar in late 2001 and occupied positions of importance in the post-Taliban administration in the province. Roohullah was also rewarded with membership of the Loya Jirga as a result of his support to Afghan President Hamid Karzai....

It is worth noting that a number of other anti-Taliban military commanders in the southwestern Kandahar province were also apprehended by the US forces in recent months on suspicion of working for the Taliban. There have also been reports that some Taliban sympathizers have infiltrated the nascent Afghan National Army. Some attacks against the American and ISAF soldiers in Kabul have been blamed on newly trained Afghan soldiers who were allegedly linked with the Taliban. Following such attacks, the US and ISAF forces had become distrustful of the Afghan soldiers and militiamen.
