President Bush concerned about possible Nevada voter fraud
(snip)

Clark County Registrar Larry Lomax first warned the public in July that his office was receiving a large number of suspect forms distributed by groups looking to register new voters in this tight election season.

Lomax originally turned over the matter to the FBI, which he said had declined to investigate.

The issue later went to the Nevada Division of Investigations, which continues to look into the matter, Heller said.

While the president was speaking Tuesday, Heller said he turned to presidential adviser Karl Rove on the matter. Rove told Heller he also was worried about the potential fraud and hoped to send in federal investigators.

Heller called it a "normal reaction" because of the troubles encountered in the last presidential race in Florida.

39. He'd better be concerned
As of 2003, Clark County (Las Vegas and neighboring communities) has 70% of the population of the entire state of NV. About 55% of the workforce is in service or sales, and that's only counting those who legally report their income. There are PLENTY of people in Vegas who are not on the "official" tally because of either immigration or legal status with regards to employment. Vegas has 24 hour drinking, gambling, stripping, clubbing, you name it. Not exactly a hotbed of modern neo-conservatism. Clark County also has a rather sizable population of retirees from the Northeast and Midwest. There are probably still a few good ole boys who run the show in Clark but this is fading.

6. What is suspect about these voter forms?
Are they just looking to sign up new voters and the Pubs are afraid the new voters will vote Dem? I read the article and it doesn't say what makes these forms "suspect".

17. here is the strategy
if you must know...Right now Rove and team know they are losing or will lose badly....so they pump up the polls to make it look like bush is winning and/or neck in neck with Kerry (this will bring out the base on both sides)....

but when kerry wins with a popular vote of 55 or 60% then Rove can scream bloodly murder that the vote must have been rigged because the polls showed they were neck in neck just before the election....
file this message for later use on Nov 3!

"Suspect" applications from Clark County- the only county in Nevada that favored Gore over * in '00 but still made the election there quite close...

I'm willing to bet * is less worried about new registrations being fraudulent and more worried about newly registered voters voting his ass out!

19. Yep
Never forget: Jeb Bush sent an absentee ballot and a plea to use it to every registered Republican, complete with a picture of himself and the Governor's seal, in 2000. FL is famous for absentee vote fraud. We just don't have too many of the details for the 2000 election.

Nevada Democratic voters close in on Republicans
By BRENDAN RILEY
ASSOCIATED PRESS

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Democrats made more voter registration gains in June and by the end of the month were only 1 percent below Republicans, according to a report Thursday from Secretary of State Dean Heller.

Heller said voter registration at the end of June stood at 882,602. The 363,463 Republicans accounted for 41 percent of the total, and the 354,950 Democrats accounted for 40 percent. The difference between the two parties is 8,513, down from 10,131 at the end of May.

Nonpartisans accounted for another 15 percent of the end-of-June total, and the remaining 4 percent included Independent American, Libertarian, Green, Natural Law, Reform and other splinter party members.

Heller didn't have totals so far this month - but Democrats added in the latest numbers from the Las Vegas area and said the Republican registration advantage now is only 5,140 statewide.

Yeah, the first person I would turn to if I was a'skeered of voter fraud would be Karl Rove, Mr. Clean Elections.

No doubt the only 'fraud' they're worried about are new Democratic registrations. How much do you want to bet they scrub the new D registrations, and don't even glance at the new R ones?

I hope the Nevada Democratic party has some good lawyers.

The lawyers need to be there NOW!!! AND in Florida, AND in Texas, AND in Georgia, AND in North Carolina, AND ESPECIALLY IN CALIFORNIA!!!! Bush didn't make the terminator a governor for nothing!!

38. Karl Rove is from Reno
...and has been in secret meetings with State Repukes several times in Reno over the past two years. The Repukes in Nevada just can't spew enough of their semen on themselves when he brings Bush or Cheney here. This article is a message, "watch out! We are coming to smear your election, Nevada!" Bush can't handle the nuclear waste enema one more time. He's going to give it back to Las Vegas with a vengence now.

The big QUESTION is "what does Senator Harry Reid have to say about this?"

40. You don't send in the fox
to inspect the hen house. How surprising will it be if Nevada falls to Bush? I think those international U.N. moderators better get their asses to Nevada as much as they need to get to Arizona, Ohio, Florida and any other battleground states. This think is beginning to stink like 3 day old fish, and it's only gonna get worse.
