Schwarzenegger chides Legislature for sending him `silly' bills
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Faced with the prospect of vetoing populist bills to raise the minimum wage, protect car buyers and combat the high price of prescription drugs, Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today accused Democrats of sandbagging him to boost their own political fortunes.

In an interview on Sacramento talk radio, Schwarzenegger lashed out at the Democrat-controlled Legislature for sending him both ``silly'' bills and politically motivated measures.

``I'm trying to do good things for the people, but they try to jam me so they can go back and say to their district: `Look what this Republican governor did' so they can go and get their votes in November,'' said Schwarzenegger.

The governor has just 12 days left to approve or reject hundreds of bills on his desk, including high-profile measures that would raise the state minimum wage, enact a ``car buyers bill of rights,'' and allow California to import low-cost prescription drugs from Canada.

24. We'd Be Much Better Off With Jesse than the Gropenator
Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 02:16 AM by AndyTiedye
The Gropenator is a Repub and is beholden to the Repubs and the oil companies.

Jesse wasn't beholden to anyone. More like Arianna than Arnie.

If you can't deal with signing a few bills once in a while, you probably should not be governor.

Somebody once said he looks like a condom full of walnuts. But worse than that, he's a fatuous fuckwit if he thinks bills to raise the minimum wage and lower the cost of prescription drugs are frivolous. And then he's proud to have signed a bill outlawing sex with dead people! Granted, necrophilia is seriously creepy, but I guess I worry more about people being broke and unable to buy medicine than whether some perv is humping a corpse.

Schwarzenegger is a tool.

11. There's that "talk-radio" freebie stuff again..
Here in CA, if you are a repube, you can get all the free air time..you can even "co-host" for HOURS on end, and of course trash any and all Dems in the process..

This was done against Davis ALL THE TIME.. The station would play a PAID FOR AD, and then the "other guy" and the regular host would tear into the ad, and yuk it up for the next hour or so..:grr:

15. Hmmm....is this what the pukes in the US congress are doing right now?
Aren't they just trying to lay political traps for Kerry and Edwards?

Actually, Arnold's way of dealing with it is probably the best tack for Kerry/Edwards as well - just come right out and point out the political motivations.

30. aw, this job is soooo hard
Kudos to the legislature for sending bills to this idiot that most Californians approve of, so he can either veto or bad-mouth them as 'silly'.

I hope Californians are reminded at every opportunity that they didn't just elect a heavily botoxed movie star as governor, but a REPUBLICAN who will oppose almost everything they support.

This man is a disgrace. and none too bright. Trashing the Democratic legislature in a Democratic state isn't the sign of a very good politician.
