Residents found the body of the Anbar province deputy governor, who had been kidnapped earlier this month, hospital officials said Saturday.

Bassem Mohammed's body was found Friday evening near Ramadi General Hospital, said Dr. Abdel Munim Aftan, the facility's director.

Some residents said Mohammed was beheaded, but Aftan would only confirm that he was killed.

Mohammed was seized on Sept. 8 when gunmen opened fire on his vehicle. His son was wounded during the shooting.

Relatives collected Mohammed's body from the hospital on Saturday, Aftan said.

The province is a stronghold of Sunni insurgents who have waged a 17-month campaign against Iraq's interim government and its U.S.-led

1. Another Quisling Bites the dust
I guess the Iraqi Resistance Forces were not too imporessed with his collaboration.

Vidkun Quisling stayed in power until he was arrested May 9, 1945 in a mansion on Bygdøy in Oslo which he called Gimle after the place in Norse mythology where the survivors of Ragnarok were to live

Quisling, along with two other Nasjonal Samling leaders, Albert Viljam Hagelin and Ragnar Skancke, were convicted and executed by firing squad. In later days these sentences have been controversial, since the capital punishment was reintroduced to the Norwegian legal system during the end of the war, by the exile government, to handle the post war trial

After World War II, the term "quisling" became a synonym in many European languages for traitor (see Judas, and the understanding of Benedict Arnold in the United States).

2. Without these "Quislings"
we're screwed. I'm not sure Al Sadr is the type of leader the US will leave in charge of things before packing up.

4. We sure have a tough row to hoe over there.
I'm afraid the more leaks we fix the more leaks spring up.

5. Hate to disagree
But at some point a Civil War is going to settle this shit once and for all.

I think however all 3 factions will join together to Eject the Christians prior to that.

There are guys there worse than Al Sadr --

maybe one of them is only 16 years old and since we killed his mother he has sworn Vengeance.

3. Kidnapped by whom? Was he an advocate for the Iraqi people?
I assume nothing,...am skeptical of all "representations",..these days.

I can't help myself.
