Former Bush supporter calls for leadership change

By RICK MONTGOMERY The Kansas City Star

A retired Air Force general who advised President Bush's father during the first Persian Gulf War visited Kansas City on Friday to stump for Bush's opponent, Democrat John Kerry.

“We simply have to have a change in leadership so we can rebuild our strength in the world” to wage war against terrorism, said Gen. Merrill “Tony” McPeak at a news conference at the Kansas City Firefighters Memorial.

Calling the conflict in Iraq “a vanity war,” the former Republican and Air Force chief of staff acknowledged that Kerry may not have the answers to resolving problems in Iraq.

“We're in a big mess and I don't know how we're going to get out,” McPeak said. “But at least John Kerry has the intelligence and the curiosity…and he'll actually read position papers given to him.”

8. Like "vanity campaign"
which is how the puke Ted Koeppel referred to Kucinich's campaign during the ABC debates.

General McPeak has as good a reputation as General Shinseki. They tell it like they see it!

4. "VANITY WAR" is good! Let's USE it!
It's girlie. It's NOT manly and brave. It could possibly have a hissy fit.

I haven't heard a phrase yet better suited to destroy Bush's photo-op posturing.
