Inzwischen sind Briefbomben in den Büros von 20 US-Gouverneuren eingegangen. Bei den meisten verdächtigen Päckchen schalteten die Mitarbeiter sofort die Polizei ein. Drei explodierten, doch zum Glück wurde niemand verletzt.


Alle Päckchen hatten einen gemeinsamen Absender: Ermittler entdeckten auf ihnen ein Stempel: „Ely State Prison“.

Ob sie tatsächlich aus dem Hochsicherheits-Gefängnis in Nevada stammen und wer sie geschickt haben könnte, wird jetzt untersucht.

now 20 US offices of gouveneurs received these mailbombs. Most of those suspicious boxes were discovered and reported to police.
Three exploded but nobody was hurt!!

My understanding is that it was basically a pack of matches rigged to all light at once when the package opened. Enough to scare someone but not anything lethal. The packages have a return address from some prison, but it could be a set-up.

The office of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the latest to receive mail that includes a device set to start a fire when opened.

The letter was discovered by screeners this week, the San Jose Mercury News reported Wednesday. The device did not ignite, officials said.

Federal authorities have retrieved the envelope as part of their investigation into the series of mail bombs. The FBI spokesman in Las Vegas told the Mercury News all the letters were stamped "Ely State Prison." The newspaper said investigators are looking into whether the devices came from inside the prison and are looking at a "person of interest," the newspaper reported.

Letters similar to the one sent to Schwarzenegger have been discovered in at least 19 other governors' offices around the country. One of the first was opened in the Montana, where the letter set off a small fire, but caused no injuries. Two other letters were also opened and caught fire.

can it be, that you felt touched by the BILD German tabloid?

They show always these naked things, everybody in Germany says, they don't buy BILD and never read it, but this daily paper has the highest print numbers and we as Germans joke about this paper, which "nobody" reads!

Just a letter rigged to catch fire if opened. It has been reported in US media. He never even got the letter, it was intercepted. Apparently, some prison inmate has been sending those to governors around the country.
