Huge absentee vote predicted for November election
Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 11:52 PM by rmpalmer

"Hello, this is George W. Bush."

Darl McMahon isn't a personal friend of the president, so she was understandably startled to hear that greeting a few weeks ago as she answered the phone in her Mt. Lebanon home.

It wasn't the president, but it was his recorded voice.

"I'm calling to ask you to fill out your absentee ballot request form," the robo-call continued.

"I thought it was really funny, and a little unbelievable" said McMahon, who describes herself as a political independent. "The very next day I got the mailing."

Identical calls filled phone lines across the state in the waning days of summer. In person and by mail, hundreds of thousands of similar appeals are being made across the country in what is anticipated to be the largest mobilization of absentee balloting in history.

I think this is getting nuts - voting before the first debate even takes place. Plus huge potential for fraud!

2. This crap is illegal in Florida and probably other states as well.
Of course, in the 2000 electon, no one looked into the repubs mailings to get as many as possible to vote by absentee ballot. Then to add insult to injury, one county with lots of repubs fixed the republican ones that were bad and should have been thrown away but did throw away the Democrat ones. Again, no investigation.

and I approve my message. My message is for all voters out there too, not just the elite few. :P :P :P

My message is: VOTE ABSENTEE IN NOVEMBER. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO FILE THE PAPERS TO DO IT YET I DON'T BELIEVE!

Make your vote count! VOTE ABSENTEE!!!!

Where I live, I am considered a "permanent absentee voter" - it works out well, I have to pay for a stamp and its easy, saves gasoline, time, etc. And best of all, IT COUNTS!!!!!

12. Even more a than amazing than how blatantly they lie
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 12:42 AM by depakote_kid
is the fact that the Kerry camp just sat there and let them get away with it for so long-

I fear that the lies have been repeated so long without rebuttal that they've stuck, and there's not enough time left to do anything about it, considering that these absentee ballaots go out in a few weeks.

13. Find out if you can vote at the election board
Here in Indiana in our county we can vote at the election board the 2 Saturdays before the election. That is considered voting absentee too.

14. Their strategy is probably swamping strong republican areas...
with the absentee ballot applications with the feeling that the number of repugs voting for gw* will far outweigh those voting for Kerry.

15. the best way 2 vote
absentee - fill out your ballot; SIGN and seal it; TAKE it 2 your polling place and turn it in. That is the way I have voted absentee 4 many elections.

16. In Florida with touchscreens it is the only way to vote
They open the ballots in front of both parties and count them. The parties do not know the totals but they see the process.

17. 2 very clear enemies of the Conniving Repugs:
1) Exit polls. I certainly do hope that there will be poll takers outside the polling booths everywhere, if possible. If there is a lot of cheating going on, the polls will tend to reflect this; say a heavily Democratic area suddenly shows the vast majority voting ratpublican. That would definitely cause some problems, this time around. In 2000, there were noticeable problems in certain voting areas in Florida.

2) The Blue Helmets are coming. Apparently, there will be International teams personally surveying the votes on November 2nd. The Rim-publicans are outraged. Imagine the injury and insult as WE require oversight into our crappy voting methods.

Should be quite a circus on November 2nd.
