Kerry Links Iraq War Cost, Domestic Woes
WASHINGTON - Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) links the cost of the Iraq (news - web sites) war to problems at home and vows in a new television ad to both "defend America and fight for the middle class."

"200 billion dollars. That's what we are spending in Iraq because George Bush (news - web sites) chose to go it alone," Kerry says in the ad, to start airing Monday in 13 competitive states where he is on the air. "Now the president tells us we don't have the resources to take care of health care and education here at home. That's wrong."

Suggesting that Bush ignored domestic ills while focusing on the war abroad, Kerry says: "As president, I'll stop at nothing to get the terrorists before they get us. But I'll also fight to build a stronger middle class."

The $200 billion estimate reflects the campaign's calculation of funds already spent on combat and reconstruction in Iraq, and money anticipated to be spent through next summer, based on congressional reports. The war has cost about $120 billion, according to the White House Office of Budget and Management.

2. Guns and butter issue, basic classical economics....
...$480 billion 2004 military budget, $200 billion more spent on Iraq, deficit $422 billion, social security surplus of $216 billion used to fund government spending, goes on and on and on. Kerry has lots of amunition, just needs to keep hammering these points at the American voter

5. Why is it not obvious to everyone that Bu$h is destroying America?
Even with all the RW media propaganda, anyone that runs a household knows that you don't go massively into debt when you have hardly any income, the house is falling apart and desperately needs repair, your partner is having an affair and giving your kids tuition fund away to a "lover" (Iraq), and the engine in your car just blew up.

This is what Bu$h is doing to our country. He is like a manic depressive in manic mode going on an unrestricted spending spree with a credit card.

Completely fiscally irresponsible. It is really crazy what he has done and is still doing. We have to stop this nutcase from frivolously spending all of our tax money. Do people really think that if Bu$h is re-selected he is not going to raise their taxes to pay for his continual lunatic excesses?

When reality sets in, America will be financially ruined.
