Senior Bush officials want CBS moderator (Schieffer) off the debate
http://www.drudgereport.com/cbsd5.htm

These people really know how to beat a horse to death!!

Just hours after CBSNEWS admitted it cannot prove the authenticity of documents used in a 60 MINUTES story about President Bush's National Guard service, top Bush advisers are recommending a CBS reporter be removed as moderator of a planned presidential debate, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

At question is the approved Oct. 13 debate at Arizona State University in Tempe with Bob Schieffer, chief Washington correspondent for CBSNEWS, moderating.

"Considering the circumstances, we should definitely ask that Schieffer be replaced," a top Bush adviser told the president on Monday, according to a well-placed source.

The well-placed source continued: "Who can trust these CBS people to play it straight ? I suspect they will be out for revenge."

The president is said to have not made any decision whether to seek a removal of the planned CBSNEWS moderator.

53. Bernie Shaw is fine.
Dukakis kicked that question, which actually provided him with an opportunity to show some outrage and humanity. It's not Shaw's fault for asking it, but Dukakis' for failing to answer it well.

34. They're working on Schieffer, trying to influence him ...
The 'pugs are hoping Schieffer will feel compelled to restore CBS' image by being tough on Kerry and easy on Bush.

It looks like Schieffer may be in a no-win situation. It's certainly a no-win situation for Democrats. Under the circumstances it might be better if Schieffer steps aside. The last thing we need is some other "story" overshadowing the debates.

7. "Considering the circumstances", the coWard-in-chief should be forced to
step down from his position. How many intentional lies has he told the country without consequences? How many lives have been lost from his "leadership" without consequences? How many allies has he cost this country? How many billions of taxpayers' dollars has he thrown into the immoral pre-emptive war that is breeding more anti-American hatred?

He's disgusting & I'm sickened by him.

19. Perhaps Brit Hume, Tony Snow , Wolf Blitzer & Bill O'Reilly Might Moderate
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 08:21 PM by David Zephyr
Fair and balanced. That's how the GOP likes it.

After all, the three debates are all taking place in states where Bush, it is reported, won. Not one "blue" state is hosting the debates.

Fair and balanced.

A war deserter is considered a brave commander and chief (Bill Frist).

A war hero is considered a threat to our national security (Cheney).

Welcome to whackoworld.

20. This is ridiculous...
Me thinks they protest too much. Of course I'm of the mind that the documents are legitimate. So I guess that makes me crazy too.

At least what's in them should be the important thing because that's where the truth lies.

And I don't think CBS should have apologized. But that's just me.

I don't go to the Drudge site because I have a weak stomach and it hurts my eyes too much to read all of his lies.

Only somebody with an IQ of 70 would believe anything he has to say anyway.

CBS should fight like hell to have Bob Shieffer remain as a moderator. He hasn't done anything wrong and I hate that big bullies are again trying to get their way!

26. CBS needs to be in on the debates. They are the only source that
represents our side of this ugly mess called the bush* administration.

The memos haven't been PROVEN forgeries, have they. Yes, their authenticity has been questioned. But during Viet Nam a lot of documents and actions were questionable, and in the end they turned out to not only be right, but that they Nixon administration were the ones trying so damn hard to bury them by making them seem to have been fraudulent.

The debates are to represent all sides, supporters of this walking crap heap that calls himself pResident to people who are on to his bullshit and know that he's a blatant liar.

We cannot, cannot, cannot let them stack the deck anymore than they have.

They were partners in the baseball team bush supportively owned. Why the WH would want Shieffer off the panel doesn't sound right.

We don't need those super rich media people on the panel asking question that would favor their rich boy bush. We need intellects and historians, and the every day folk of America. Chit, I'd like to see some soldiers asking ass kicking bush some questions.

56. Why would CBS be "out for revenge?"
Unless something had been done to them by the RNC or *. If the Repukes had nothing to do with planting the story, then what kind of revenge are they worried about? I was under the impression that this was all about CBS. I have personally never "suspected" that someone would be out for revenge at my expense, unless I had done something to hurt them.

Legally speaking, it's damn near a tacit admission.
