Terrorism Fear Lifts Bush To Dead Heat In New Jersey (48/48 LV)
Terrorism Fear Lifts Bush To Dead Heat In New Jersey, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Voters Say Iraq War Is Wrong And Economy Is Bad

President George W. Bush and Democratic challenger John Kerry are locked in a 48 - 48 percent tie among New Jersey likely voters, including undecided voters leaning toward a candidate, with 2 percent for independent candidate Ralph Nader, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Among registered voters, Sen. Kerry is ahead 47 - 43 percent. This compares to a 49 - 39 percent Kerry lead among registered voters, with 4 percent for Nader, in an August 25 poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University.

New jersey has tightened, but we're in no trouble there - notice the registered voters numbers, which are much more accurate. Additionally, the poll makes no reference to all of the new, young voters who will go for Kerry in a big way.

1. I hope you're right, but
this is damned depressing.

I keep shaking my head in amazement. The things that are said to influence voters to back Bush -- e.g., fear of terrorism -- are the very things that should be driving them away from him.

Sigh.

2. Bushler
Hitler came to power using the fear of an attack by Germany's enemies against the German people.
Bushler is using the fear of an attack by terrorists.

Hitler used the burning of the Reichstag.
Bushler is using 9/11.

And the conservatives wonder why Bush is compared to Hitler.

5. This state is ours.
Bush can't get above 48-49 anywhere. This number represents his high water mark.

If their likely voter numbers are right, we'll win because we'll get the Bulk of the undecideds.

And if their registered voters number is right, well, we win, period.

6. This is a good attempt!
I am scheptical of this pool because the fact remains that everyone I talk to in the tri-state area is voting for Kerry. So I don't who they are polling. I really didn't think they would sink this low but they are. Don't buy into it I don't know any democrats in NY/NJ who have decided to vote for *.

10. FEAR
Why do these weak minded frightened people think Bush will protect them? Bush is spreading the fear, he was President on September 11th, 2001 and the center piece on his so-called "War On Terror" has been to destabilize the middle east causing 1000s of new recruits to flock to various terrorist groups. The last place these fearful people should look for comfort is George W. Bush.
