SLAUGHTER IN IRAQ PM's message in phone call to family
By Pippa Crerar

TONY BLAIR yesterday phoned the family of Iraq hostage Ken Bigley to warn them: I can't save your dad.

And hours later, reports on the internet claimed the second of two Americans held with the British engineer had been murdered.

The Prime Minister told Ken's son and brothers that the Government was doing all it could. But he ruled out any deal with the hostage-takers and told the family there were 'limitations' on what he could do.

After Blair's call, Ken's brother Paul said: 'Now, dare I say it, I think I'm going to lose my brother. But I'll tell you what, not without a battle.'

I don't know what you would say to the families, but this seems rather crass, even for Blair.

1. I think it was honest
Why give them false hope?

He could have avoided talking to them.

2. Besides, the moment when he actually might have saved them is LONG
gone. As in - they never should have had to go over there to begin with.

3. This, of course, begs the question...
Has Chimp ever phoned the family of our hostages? I think I know the answer to that one...

5. I have a great idea!
We should send all the Enron, Worldcom thieving assholes to go to work there.

Everyone who is there now should leave and let the corporate warmongers do the work.
