Some wrongly told they can't vote
LANSING -- Newly registered voters in at least two Secretary of State offices were wrongly told they are ineligible to vote in the Nov. 2 election, sparking charges by Democrats that GOP Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is trying to suppress turnout.

But Land's spokeswoman said Tuesday that it was an isolated mistake made when fliers were handed out in Battle Creek and Ann Arbor branch offices during the past week. The notices were intended for distribution after Oct. 4, the last day of registration for the Nov. 2 election.

1. Isolated mistake, my ass.
There seem to be a LOT of 'isolated' mistakes happening for the benefit of at least ONE party ticket, in a lot of places.

3. Sorry I do not buy it.
I don't recall the source, or when it was said but it was said by a republican none the less. It was something like this; we need to supress the Detroit vote to win the state. Ann Arbor is to close to Detroit for this to sit well with me.

4. You mean State Rep. John Pappageorge, R-Troy
I'm sure this was done deliberately by the SOS.
Voter intimidation happens everywhere.

5. Justice Dept should be in there right now. This is contrary to the Voting
Rights Act of 1965. They should have to hold registration open until election day and broadcast PSAs to that effect on every TV and radio station in Michigan.
