Hot races attract voters to Nov. 2
Nearly 30,000 Coloradans register in 27-day period

About 30,000 Coloradans registered to vote from mid-August to mid-September, the latest wave in a year of unprecedented voter interest in politics.

Democrats in that 27-day span registered more voters than Republicans - 17,749 voters to 15,777 voters, according to the latest figures from the secretary of state through Sept. 14. Unaffiliated voters declined by 3,694 during the period, perhaps indicating new allegiances, but in any event putting the net number of new voters at 29,832.

The flood is being felt in county clerks' offices. "We are absolutely being bombarded," said Susan Miller, Jefferson County elections director.

In her 15 years in the elections office, she said she has never seen such a wave of registration. The office has hired extra people and employees are working overtime to process the forms

5. I got the same story from our clertk of court here in NM

This is a very small state in terms of population, and she said the voter registrations were coming in to the tune of 500-1000 per day.

I sincerely doubt many of these are knee-jerk jerks supporting a bad president only becuase he's a president. I think most of these folks are registering because they want him OUT.

6. We are working hard out here in Central California also

The campaign for Juan Arambula, who is running for a state seat, has turned 80% of the republican Hispanic votes to Democrats. They were registering to vote and the voter registration people were marking them as republican. I personally have registered 17 people were I work, I just happen to keep a voter registration form handy. California is not a battleground state, but it sure does put up 53 members of the house. Make all of the Reps Democrats and see if we do not tip the balance of power there. I may not live in a battleground state, but I can help pick up the ever so valuable incremental win and make Nancy Pelosi the Speaker of the House.
