APOLLO — The box is filled. The card is signed. The pictures are drawn.
Yet they will remain here in Apollo, just as the memory of Joshua Henry remains in the hearts and minds of many in this borough who described him as one of the most engaging individuals they knew.
The 21-year-old Henry, a specialist in the Army’s 1st Infantry Division, died recently while serving in Iraq. Details of his death, including the date and place, were unavailable yesterday.
Members of Henry’s family declined to comment, referring inquiries to Apollo Police Chief Robin Davis. However, Davis said yesterday that she did not have a statement from the family.
Two military personnel at the police station yesterday, who were being escorted by Davis to the Henry family residence along South Fourth Avenue, said that they could not comment on Henry’s death. They referred questions to the Army’s local public affairs department, which did not return a phone message.
Henry became the second Kiski Valley soldier to die in the war in Iraq. Staff Sgt. Stevon Booker, 34, of Kiski Township was killed near Baghdad in April 2003.
