(Mitch) Daniels doesn't expand on health initiatives at news conference
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 02:58 PM by khephra
INDIANAPOLIS What was billed as a press conference for Republican gubernatorial candidate Mitch Daniels to announce a health program turned out to be an endorsement by the wife of Republican Senator Dick Lugar.

Daniels told reporters that being healthy lowers health care costs, which he said could make it easier to attract businesses to the state.

But he never actually offered any ideas to make Hoosiers healthier.

Instead, he introduced Char Lugar, who talked about the Lugar Walk and Run -- an annual event touted by her husband. She endorsed Daniels' candidacy, and the news conference was over.

(Once a Bushie, always a Bushie it seems. Hoosiers will be screwed with our own little Bush if we let this jerk in office. No specifics and no plans. Don't worry about the costs! Your children and grandchildren can take care of it for you!)

1. Wow! Profound insight there, Mitchy-boy!
"Being healthy lowers health care costs." Yep, you hit it right on the head, no doubt about it!

2. Sounds like he's been taking lessons from Bush, doesn't it?
We might have to start a list of "Mitchisms" if he keeps saying stupid shit like that sentence.

4. Well, they are the same people who vote Bush
So voting for Mitch isn't too much of a leap of stupidity for them.

IIRC, most of his support comes from Lilly connections, so it was bound to be a tough fight no matter how smart or dumb Mitch actually turned out to be when off on his own.

6. I know Mitch, and he is not stupid
but I have to admit when I found out who he was (after I had spent two days playing golf with him) I was shocked. He never said anything that would lead to you believe that he was anything other than a mid level manager at Lilly.

I had no clue he was a multi-millionare, a top level executive, a stock swindler, and completely connected in the Republican party. The first time I saw him interviewed on CNN when he was budget director, it was clear that he had swallowed the Kool-Aid.

What is outrageous about Mitch is how he is campaigning as a good 'ol farm boy from down home. He is an Ivy League aristocrat, but they won't tell the Gomers in Indiana about that, will they?

7. It worked for Bush, why not for him?
A fake cowboy, a fake plowboy - in the end, what's the difference? They're both phonies.

I overheard Mitch tell someone who asked him what it was like to work for Bush, and he said something to the effect that it was great. He just let you know the general direction he wanted to go, and let you do your job and never interfered.

Of course he didn't interfere, he didn't have a fucking clue about anything so how could he possibly get involved?

Meanwhile Mitch gets to preside over the biggest budget destruction in the history of the world, and made the comment:

"They (O'Bannon et al) presided over turning a surplus to a deficit in our state. We shouldn't re-elect people that fail us so significantly"

Huh? Mitch's budget debacle was only about 2 trillion worse, so why would anyone elect him to do anything? Oh, I forgot, its Republicanism.

10. If you are healthy, you don't need healthcare. You don't need to
concern yourself about healthcare costs. To reduce our healthcare costs, Mitch is going to export all our sick people to Arizona.Businesses will come roaring into Indiana and profits will soar.If they don't we can outsource all our jobs to India, which will make more of our people sick and we can start exporting them to all corners of the globe making us even more attractive for businesses.

This is making me sick.
