House GOP to Reject 9/11 Recommendation
WASHINGTON - House Republicans plan to follow President Bush (news - web sites)'s lead and reject the Sept. 11 commission's recommendation to strip the Pentagon (news - web sites) of control over its spy shops in favor of a new national intelligence director with hiring, firing and spending control.

The White House gave Congress legislative language Thursday that detailed its ideas about a national intelligence director. The House's majority Republicans will use the administration version as their starting point, said Stuart Roy, spokesman for House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.

2. No way the WH is going to give Rummy's intel budget up
to some new guy, how can they run their secret intel ops without the cash to pay for it?

3. Wow, I feel safer.
Bush doesn't want a commission to investigate the worst terrorist attack on American soil in history.

Bush doesn't want to testify before said commission after finally bowing to pressure to create it.

Now Bush doesn't want to follow the commission's recommendations.

Does anyone get the feeling that his administration already has their plans in mind, and don't need to be bothered with these pesky recommendations?

Oh wait, I forgot. That's just more "steady leadership."

4. Well, that's no surprise! Shrubby gets what Shrubby wants.
I sure hope enough voters are paying attention to understand it's really a bad idea to have one party control EVERYTHING!
