Bush, Kerry Not Invited to Annual Dinner
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 09:20 PM by gtrump
A sad commentary on the state of this election, and perhaps the country...

NEW YORK - Neither President Bush (news - web sites) nor Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites) has been invited to this year's Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, a traditionally lighthearted affair held just before the elections, because issues in the presidential campaign could detract from the spirit of the event, its sponsor, the Archdiocese of New York said Thursday.

Instead, the 59th annual dinner will feature the Republican president's father, former President George H.W. Bush, and former Democratic New York Gov. Hugh Carey, as speakers, said archdiocese spokesman Joseph Zwilling.

. . . .

"The tradition of the Smith dinner is to bring people together," Zwilling said in a statement. "Given that issues in this year's campaign could provoke divisiveness and disagreement and could detract from that spirit, it was felt best to proceed in a different direction while maintaining all of the ideals and values of the dinner."

It's fixed now...I left in the "http"

On edit: I had hoped my 900th post would have been better than, "Thanks. I fixed my own screw up."

13. I'd pay a 100x the $54.95 that they're charging on PPV to watch Hopkins
and DelaHoya, to watch the chimp get knocked into reality.

11. Breslin used to have lots of fun with Hugh Carey
and Carey did his best to help...remember when Carey drank a glass of "dioxin" to pretend the Hudson didn't need cleaning up?

Remember his wedding to the Greek heiress and widow (her ex-husband turned out to be alive and middle-class, running a pizzeria in Utica)?
