5 EU Countries Agree to Set Up Paramilitary Police Force

Five European Union countries have signed an agreement creating an EU paramilitary force to assist in international peacekeeping missions.

Ministers of France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and The Netherlands signed the agreement Friday at a meeting of EU Defense Ministers in the Dutch resort town of Noordwijk.

The five countries, each of which has its own paramilitary-type force, are expected to provide the 800-strong core of the force, to be called the European Gendarmerie.

Officials say the force, expected to be set up by next year, will assume peacekeeping and policing duties in zones recovering from conflicts.

We are entering the age of mass conglomerate countries, individual identity is wiped away and the wars will begin soon.

Is it too early to start calling them Oceania?

2. I don't see this as so much different than the proto-US.
Although the EU countries might be considered more culturally heterogeneous than the American colonies. But even that would probably depend on what measure you used.

To wit, I don't see it as necessarily a bad thing. It could be a good thing. Global citizenship, and all that...
