U.S. Intelligence Report on Iraq: Pessimistic on War, contrasts Bush

WASHINGTON - A highly classified National Intelligence Estimate assembled by some of the government’s most senior analysts this summer provided a pessimistic assessment about the future security and stability of Iraq.

snip-

At worst, the official said, were “trend lines that would point to a civil war.” The official said it “would be fair” to call the document “pessimistic

“It’s beyond pitiful, it’s beyond embarrassing, it’s now in the zone of dangerous,” said Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., referring to figures showing only about 6 percent of the reconstruction money approved by Congress last year has been spent.

I wonder how Rove will try and spin this? :nuke:

This story is all over the AP.

2. Insurgents are taking over more and more of Iraq everyday..

Of course, do you expect Wolf Blitzer on CNN to make that a top story?

3. A DUer posted that Michael Moore said in a speech the other night
that they are telling troops to stay off the streets in order to keep casualties down until the election...wonder if there's any way of confirming.

4. GOP Spin of the day
Today, Jr.s talking heads blame EVERYTHING on .... "they just want to influence the election." Annan said "the war in Iraq was illegal" talking heads respond, he just wants to influence the election. Things getting worse in Iraq..... Insurgents just want to influence the election. I've heard this EXCUSE used at least five times today by five different talking heads.
So the moral of the story is... the excuse presidents EXCUSE for the day is They're all picking on me, they all just want to influence the election. (whine, whine, whine)
