White House highlights doubts about reports Bush had help avoiding Vietnam
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 02:41 PM by Supersedeas
<<"CBS has now acknowledged that the crux of their story may have been based on forged documents," White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters as Bush made a campaign stop in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

The White House had earlier refused to comment on the authenticity of the documents...

CBS on Wednesday aired Rather's interview with Marian Carr Knox, Killian's secretary, who said she did not type the documents but noted that the information they contained accurately reflected her boss's feelings about Bush at the time.

"Now, some are looking at feelings and not the facts," McClellan said, adding: "We don't have to rely on the feelings of a nice woman who has firmly stated her opposition to the president." >>

WHAT'S THAT SCOTTIE?
1. CBS admitted the story is BASED ON forged documents?
2. Some are looking at feelings and not the facts?
3. We don't have to rely on the feelings of a woman who has firmly
stated her opposition to the president.

I suppose a loyalty oath is also required before one's memory has any validity.

1. "feelings" is a a term often used by women in their normal
speech where men would say "thoughts". "I feel that Bush is an idiot" or "I know how he felt about Bush". This is just more deflection.

2. they're afraid of Knox
I would be too if I were them.

And both she and the memos are just supporting evidence for a credible story, CBS never presented them as PROOF of anything.

3. A repuke I know e-mailed to me about Marian Carr Knox...
"That Knox woman is 86 years old" as if her age made her suspect.
I asked him if that was indeed what he was suggesting.
"What do you think?" he answered.
I replied, "Herb, I've got three words for you...Strom F*cking Thurmond."

I guess his PC broke...ain't heard back yet.

10. They were still taking Reagan seriously, too,
at age 86. Does this mean that if Poppy lives another 6 years everyone should disregard anything he says? (Of course, many do already.)

There's an awful lot of "kill the messenger" going on here lately. It's making me just a tad angry.
