2. I remember a WWII story
or maybe fable...........

A marine killed in action reports to the pearly gates; approaches St Peter; salutes and says "Another Marine Reporting, Sir. I've served my time in hell."

Rest in peace Marine.

3. We can't leave Iraq now and have all these soldiers die for nothing
We will need to have at least 50 or 60 thousand soldiers die for nothing before we can leave.

7. How incredibly sad this constant news is.
The wisest were just poor and simple people. They knew the war to be a misfortune, whereas those who were better off, and should have been able to see more clearly what the consequences would be, were beside themselves with joy.
Katczinsky said that was a result of their upbringing. It made them stupid. And what Kat said, he had thought about.
