Top Dem (Coelho) Rips Kerry Campaign
Excerpts:

Longtime Democratic insider Tony Coelho lashed out at the John Kerry presidential campaign, characterizing it as a campaign in chaos. With yet another appointment of a former Clinton administration staffer to Kerry’s team on Tuesday, Coelho argues the problem is worsening.

“There is nobody in charge and you have these two teams that are generally not talking to each other,” says Coehlo, who ran Al Gore's campaign early in the 2000 presidential race. As Coelho and other detractors see it, there is a civil war within the Kerry campaign.

More:

“Our problem here is a national message,” Coelho says. “What is it that we are? If you go to Kerry, that’s a disaster because the candidate should not be involved in solving disputes or the creation of his message."

Say what you will about Coelho, but he did help win the Presidency for Al Gore in 2000.

I just hope it's not too late.

38. Actually Gore got more than 60%
In the Iowa Caucuses...that's the part of the Campaign Coehlo ran..the primaries. He did kick ass!!

Then Shrum/Brazille and all the stupid horseshit started happening. Alpha Male, Lock Box and all that crap.

Coehlo is awesome and tough. Kerry would be wise to listen to him.

6. Turf War........you bet
Between the DNC and the DLC. The only reason Clinton won two terms is because of his personal charisma. Our great leaders still believe the way to win an election is to pussy-foot to the right. This is bull......we need to get back to the base of the party and that is us.

7. Motive
Just ask yourself, why would someone go public with charges like this, at a critical time, when the campaign is rolling out its message to run up to the debates?

Screw Coehlo. He is irrelevant. Like he was in 2000.

13. Thank you, Tony....
.... for speaking the truth. You helped to capture the last popular vote, overwhelmingly, for Gore. It was just too damn bad that Al elected to pussy out and not fight for that which you helped win for him in the first place.

Moreoever, you are absolutely right about this campaign and this candidate being in absolute chaos. This campaign is a disaster. A damn shame. An embarrassment.

There is no consistent message and much worse, this campaign is walking around with a jar of vaseline in its right hand so that the daily fucking it's getting from Karl Rove is just all that more smooth and easy.

And this is a candidate that has NOT directly spoken to or engaged with the Press for the last SIX WEEKS!

This candidate should be slamming that god damn criminal who stole that Oval Office day and night, up and down, right and left. But noooooooo.... Senator Kerry has specifically stated that he doesn't want to go THAT negative against any sitting President. Christ.

He's playing this game like it's a friggin' bridge tournament at "The Club" instead of engaging in the war which Karl Rove is bringing to his doorstep every single morning of this campaign.

Kerry is running against the most evil group of people ever to have made it to 1600. There are lists of hundreds of absolute crimes in which they are either directly or indirectly involved or complicit. "Their" war is a disaster. On and on and on and on ....

... and, what's the best this candidate can do? Break even, at best, and most of the time run behind such a squalid group of sub-human trash.

Get over it....this race is over.

15. Gore said: "The hell with strategists, I'll let it rip this time"
That as he was preparing a kick ass campaign in 2002 (SNL, GREAT appearances). Strategists - such as Carville & begala openly dissed him for that ("how dare you blame US?) and the DNC kicked him out - "It's Kerry's turn"
So now, the same people who advised him to be nice in 2000 have more ideas...
I am not happy with kerry, but Cohelo is the last one to talk. Al, strategists should STFU!

22. Consistent Message? You Mean Like This One?
Wed, Sep 15, 2004

DETROIT (Reuters) - Democratic candidate John Kerry unleashed a harsh indictment of President Bush's economic stewardship on Wednesday and urged his Republican rival to take responsibility instead of playing the victim.

(snip)

"The president would have us believe that his record is the result of bad luck, not bad decisions, that he's faced the wrong circumstances, not made the wrong choices," Kerry said in excerpts of remarks prepared for delivery at the Detroit Economic Club, a traditional forum for presidential candidates.

"In fact, this president has created more excuses than jobs. His is the Excuse Presidency -- never wrong, never responsible, never to blame. President Bush's desk isn't where the buck stops -- it's where the blame begins."

16. This belongs in a private phone call to the campaign leadership -m
not public grandstanding.

I'm not impressed with Mr. Coelho. This doesn't help anything, just feeds the media machine looking for problems with Kerry and his campaign instead of looking at the mess the country is in thanks to Bush.

20. Regardless
of whether this is true or not, it's just right-wing bashing all over again. It's a true test to see how many people can ignore this kind of shit and proceed accordingly. By making it appear that the campaign is in shambles, it's strengthening the opposing camp's agenda, which most of us know is horrendous. People will get the impression that Kerry is completely disorganized--another charge the repukes would love to keep in the public ear.

I think posting this kind of scurrilous information is just another attempt to make Kerry look bad, and again, whether it's true or not, it's only helping the other side, NOT helping ours at all.

Everyone knows how he fucked up Gore's campaign.

What people forget is that he was the Democratic point man in the Congressional Elections of 1994. He's the Captain of the Titanic whenever he gets on a ship.

23. whether or not he's right about the details, it's hard to feel bad about
Kerry managing to recover against bush's bounce already. i'm sure that rove is making "notes to self" at this point saying things like "1] never have a convention this late in the game, ever ever again. 2] do NOT allow GW to be interviewed by anyone who hasn't signed a sworn alliegence contract. 3] make sure GW wears face guard up until days of debates, and do not allow any photos."

31. zzzz
Kerry seems to really be on a roll lately. He’s now getting back to basics. With Carville and Greenberg on board the message will start to be more concise. He has begun rolling out short, cliché type hits against DimSon.

With the brevity comes a perception of conviction and also appeals to those who like their news 7-11 style.

We still have many things left that will hopefully end the bush regime on Nov2.
