WP: Bush's Records Keep Trickling Out (Milbank)
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A18907-2004Sep13?language=printer

"The records have now been fully released."

That was White House press secretary Scott McClellan talking about records of President Bush's Vietnam-era service in the Texas Air National Guard. Unfortunately for McClellan, he said that on Feb. 10 -- before two more waves of records were released. In July, the Pentagon, citing an "inadvertent oversight," released records that it had previously labeled destroyed. And in recent days, the Associated Press and the Boston Globe have obtained still more records.

The White House is no longer saying the "entire file" has been released. In fact, the search for Bush's Guard documents continues -- and is being directed by a three-star general, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. White House communications director Dan Bartlett, who has coordinated the administration's statements on the issue, says: "My understanding is there is a constant review spearheaded by the FOIA office at the Pentagon to ensure all documents are located."

Now there is some grumbling among Bush loyalists about Bartlett's handling of the Guard records; they say he may have drawn extra attention to the matter by sitting on the most recent batch of documents before releasing them publicly. And the newly released documents have refuted two claims Bartlett made in 1999: that Bush was appropriately released from his Texas unit because it had phased out the F-102 jets that he flew, and that Bush transferred to a reserve unit in Boston. The F-102s were still being flown by Bush's unit when he departed, and Bush never signed up with a Boston area unit.

1. "And the Chimp is still lying/trying to cover up; that's why we're still
talkin' about it."

Wake up America! Take a good hard look at the pathetic little coWard aWol Wimpy Wuss that was appointed by the Felonious Five.
What a pusbag. What a filthy, oozy, purulent, crusty little pusbag.

2. Keep Repeating That Bush Lied About the F-102's Being "Phased Out"
Everyone in America has heard that lie from the White House.

The fact that they were not phased out which was Bush's first dodge about why he didn't take the physical will not sit well with the American public...nor with the troops.

Bush is a pathological liar.

3. -snip-
Asked yesterday if he knew of any more Bush Guard records, Bartlett replied: "Based on our experience, we have continued to ask the Department of Defense and the National Guard Bureau for any and all official documents. They are working hard to ensure that we have recovered them all."

Not said:

"And we are working hard to ensure that they aren't recovered."

10. "Asked yesterday if he knew of any more Bush Guard records",
Bartlett answered some other question. His knowledge "of any more Bush Guard records" remains as unexplicated now as before he was asked.

Reporters! Bah!

5. Because of the memos, etc,...
they have no idea what documents might be out there, that's why they are now back to "searching". Gotta love it, I think they are a "wee" bit nervous, lol.

6. Why did Bartlett have to "sit" on the records?
I'm reminded of 'The Emporer Has No Clothes' story. We all KNOW that what Dan Rather reported is exactly correct. Yet the media can't or won't figure out a way to tell us the truth....or maybe that is the whole issue.....they don't WANT us to find out the truth, (except for CBS).

7. Why? Because Bartlett is one of the people...
... who ordered the records to be purged, in the first place. It's an indication that he screwed up, and didn't have the job done quite well enough. :P

8. Scroll down to read the rest of Milbank's column
Did you see that the White House removed the press corp toilet from the basement of the White House? Now they will have to leave the building.

I won't be surprised to read one day that the White House press corps has been moved to a "free speech zone" some place in Alexandria.

9. Too, too funny...and sadly true
Edited on Tue Sep-14-04 12:36 AM by RevRussel
I think we all keep (from time to time) missing the REAL punchline. As posted above-they know they are lying. Those creeps are laughing at everybody, probably mostly the idiot freepers-their own pud suckers- and the poor idiots as well as us just don't get it! This whole thing is just a bitterly funny joke!

And, however unfortunately, liberals are so goddomn solemly sincere. The thugs are better practical jokers than we are. They not only know about the bucket of water above the door, they are the ones who sneaked in and put a brick in it. And as if that weren't bad enough, they sawed a hole in the floor and put carpet over it; and it's their goddamned apartment. (Whew, I gotta quit this)}(

on edit: Ya know- this just can't be real. In a real world even a dumbass freeper would look at stupid Cheney, still claiming wmd in the face of all the evidence, rather all the lack of evidence, and say, " These guys are just too stupid to live. Man, we gotta kick them out." (shakes head wryly, sadly)
Even the my pet goat story- Georgie was "collecting his thought." I realize they (his thoughts) would probably be pretty hard to find, but seven minutes, too stupid to live, fire him. Where has the real world gone?
This is just insane.

You may be more right than you know. The WH press corps is already so cowed that they barely ask any tough questions at all anymore. I knew when they treated Helen Thomas badly from the get go that the press wase in for a hard time with this administration. Still, it doesn't excuse the abysmal way they have allowed themselves to be managed by the WH.

13. As Kitty Kelly said to Matt "Hair plugs" Lauer this morning ...
... "let's see Bush's Medical Board records." Those still haven't been released, and they may not even exist anymore thanks to the document shredding operation on Shrub's behalf in 1999. She actually pointed out the "coincidence" that Bush never showed up for a physical after the NG started doing drug tests.

18. You can't throw in names from different polls, taken in different decades
And rank them. That is garbage social science. Was the poll that ranked Micheal Jordan as the most favorable man in history registered voters, or just registered basketball fans?

23. Maybe if he tried...
Wearing a bad rug and screaming "YOU'RE FIRED!" his rank in the Gallup poll would be higher.

Why is the Post jumping thur time to compare Kerry's standing in a poll?...Is there not enough people in the current time frame to judge this against?

I love how he "narrowly beats O.J. Simpson"..narrow is Joseph McCarthy...Not O.J...Hell, Rush is closer to O.J. then Kerry..Poor O.J. :(

On the plus side, Bin Laden is beating President Bush and Vice President Cheany..combined :D

19. THAT'S the ticket! Now the REAL story gets out. Why did the
WH risk their credibility with withholding the documents in the first place? First they were ruined, then lost, then found, then not found and now forged? Bush misrepresented his service, his honesty and his honor. He should have told the truth to the American people.

No, the records have not been fully released. Where's the paper work on the Unelected Fraud's being grounded? Lots of vets here said that's not the kind of thing that goes undocumented in the military.

28. If *'s Guard duty has already been covered in the past...
as they always claim then why is it so hard to come up with all these files. If I wanted to be able to dispute any future accuations regarding my pastI would keep all the info on hand.

Then again, I am not a presidential candiate with a past I want to cover-up.
