Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 05:50 PM by cal04
This is blatant partisan maneuvering on the part of Jeb Bush to give his brother a leg up on election day."

They are trying to get ballots printed with Nader's name on them," said Maddox. "I am astounded that Jeb Bush is willing to defy the judiciary to help his brother."

25. Any qualified candidate has the right to run for political office
Political monopolies are bad for the country, as evidenced by the sad state of affairs that the two major parties have put our nation today; the GOP by plunging the nation into war in Iraq, the Democrats by enabling the war by voting for it.

Ultimately it is up to the voters, not the corrupt political hacks, to determine if a candidate deserves their vote.

Nader is going nowhere this year because a majority of voters have decided that this election is too important to tinker with the undemocratic winner-take-all electoral system, the defeat of Bush being paramount. After Election Day, no matter the outcome, all bets all off!

26. Next Announcement
It'll go something like this:

Gov. Jeb! announced today that due to Hurricane Ivan's potential damaging effects, and the possible disruption of Republican attempts to steal Florida's electoral votes for his brother, the name of Democratic challenger John Kerry will not appear on the ballot in Florida in November.

" Because this disaster may have lasting effects, including long term power outages in many counties we are depending on to steal the vote for my brother, it seems that it is in the interest of Floridians to not be confused into accidentally voting against the President." The governor said tuesday.

9. I cannot fathom anybody falling for the Nader thing again
why in the world would anybody vote for Nader after four years of Shrub. Any Nader voter deserves exactly what they get. I think the whole Nader Phenom is a media-created hype thing. Let him get on the ballot, he'll be as marginal as all the other minor parties.

22. Deserve What They Get?
I get a little upset when I hear/read the attitude that people who vote for (anyone other than Kerry) deserve what they get. It seems to me that these voters will cause the rest of us to suffer too. Maybe they deserve four more years of Bush and the resulting changes to the judiciary making this country not recognizable for years to come but what about the rest of us?

Did Bush camp err on ballot papers?

Democrats say the president may have missed Florida's filing deadline, but say they don't plan a challenge.

By STEVE BOUSQUET, Times Staff Writer
Published September 11, 2004

TALLAHASSEE - After the Florida election fiasco of 2000, the most obscure parts of state election law keep attracting attention.

The latest effort to disqualify Ralph Nader as a presidential candidate in Florida has led to renewed scrutiny of papers filed by other candidates - including President Bush.

State law sets a Sept. 1 deadline for the governor to certify a list of presidential electors for each party's candidates.

But Sept. 1 was also the day President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were being nominated at their party' convention in New York. Consequently, some of their paperwork did not arrive at state elections headquarters until Sept. 2, a day after Gov. Jeb Bush certified the candidates for president.

How obscure can it be since this was an issue in other states as well?

Screaming 'rule of law' when it's advantageous, then bending and breaking the law when it's not...

I just get so angry.

touch screen voting machines can't be recounted? Just make a new rule - there will be no recounts on touch screen machines. problem fixed.

37. Technically
Florida law states the candidate has to be nominated by his / her party before they are allowed on the ballot. Since the nomination did not happen till the "cut off" date, they really had no choice but to let Bush slide on this one.

33. The biggest sign the Old American Republic is dead and gone
During the days of the Old Republic, there was corruption, but people were ashamed of it, and tried to hide it.

The Busheviks, knowing that Imperial Amerika has no law which applies to the Imperial Family, simply perform their corruptions right out in the open, knowing they will never be held responsible.

Open corruption is the hallmark of nations as disparate as Saddam's Iraq and Bush*s Amerikan Empire, rovided they are all Totalitarian-Unfree Nations, like Imperial Amerika.

34. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you
Nader can't even buy his way onto any of the other ballots, but lo and behold, he shows up on the Florida ballot, home of JebCo. Nader's an even worse hypocrite, having the nerve to talk about "destructive politics" and yet accepting money from the Repukes to try and steal votes away from Kerry. He's a whore just like the rest of them.
