Police Nab Booby - Trapped Mail to Schwarzenegger

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Law enforcement agencies have seized a letter to California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger rigged to burst into flames when opened, the latest in a series of such mail sent to U.S. governors, officials said on Tuesday.

The California Highway Patrol intercepted the letter on Monday without incident at a mail screening facility in West Sacramento, California, said Steve Kohler, a spokesman for the statewide police agency.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has acquired a total of 20 such letters, according to a spokesman.

How in the world can some prison inmate send these letters to all these people?

4. Maybe it's not an inmate!

Maybe it's just somebody who works at the prison. Maybe a warden who's pissed at the cuts the prison system has had to endure under all Governors. My guess is that it's not an inmate at all.

I mean, they know where it's coming from, how hard would it be to find out who that is?

I have to believe somebody is at least looking, but I don't know how hard of a job it is to find one specific person. Seems like they could check every piece of mail leaving that prison though.

I check when I saw the first list. They also all were postmarked from some prison facility. Interesting....

Locke and Napolitano got them, and I think Kulingowski did too. The focus seems to be mostly on western governors, but that might just be a function of distance from Nevada.
