Employers don't budge on hiring
Manpower: Firms stick to same plans for three quarters

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- While twice as many employers plan to hire workers in the fourth quarter than did last year at this time, firms aren't budging from their hiring intentions for the two most recent quarters, according to the latest Manpower Employment Outlook survey.
Twenty percent of employers plan to add to their work force in the fourth quarter, compared with 10 percent last year, but the figure is unchanged from the 20 percent of firms who said they would hire in both the second and third quarters this year.

But "employers continue to demonstrate caution," she said. Manpower doesn't ask employers for the reasons behind their intentions, but Beck speculated that caution "is linked to ... the rise in oil prices and the staggering rise of health-care costs."
