U.S. Iraq Military Deaths - 1,012 members of the U.S. military have died

As of Monday, Sept. 13, 1,012 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq (news - web sites) in March 2003, according to the Defense Department. Of those, 764 died as a result of hostile action and 248 died of non-hostile causes. The figures include three military civilians.

As Americans debate Vietnam, the U.S. death toll tops 1,000 in Iraq. And the insurgents are still getting stronger

U.S. forces have effectively ceded entire cities to the insurgents, and much of the country elsewhere is a battleground. Last week the total number of U.S. war dead in Iraq passed the 1,000 mark, reaching 1,007 by the end of Saturday.

Two U.S. Soldiers Killed in Baghdad

Two American soldiers were killed and three others wounded when they came under attack from an improvised explosive device and small arms fire in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the military said today.

ONE TASK FORCE OLYMPIA SOLDIER DEAD, FIVE WOUNDED DURING ATTACK

MOSUL, Iraq -- One Task Force Olympia Soldier was killed and five were injured when their patrol was attacked with small arms fire on the western side of Mosul this morning. The injured were evacuated to military hospitals in Mosul and Baghdad.
