Gender gap for wages still acute
AUGUSTA -- In 1970, women in Maine made 58 cents for every $1 made by a man.

In 2002, the number was 76 cents -- less than a penny of progress a year for the last 32 years.

"This is glacial," said Wendy Rose, who's helped women in the workplace for 18 years. "When is it going to be not OK to pay women less?"

Before addressing when it might change, it may be helpful to ask why the gap still exists.
