NYTs: Shiite Leader Fears Politics May Delay January Election
Interesting article up on NYTs website for tomorrows edition. It lays out the politics of the upcoming election in Iraq. It was not clear to me exactly how big a role the exhiles have in forming a new government. This is all about exhiles and very little about indigenous Iraqi people forming their own government. I knew this in general, but this article really drives it home.

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Sept. 22 - Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, the nation's most powerful Shiite leader, is growing increasingly concerned that nationwide elections could be delayed, his aides said, and has even threatened to withdraw his support for the elections unless changes are made to increase the representation of Shiites, according to one Iraqi source close to him.
