UN says no nuke inspection plan agreed with Brazil

VIENNA, Sept 23 (Reuters) - The U.N. nuclear watchdog said on Thursday it was still "in discussions" with Brazilian authorities over inspecting its uranium enrichment plant despite Brazil's assertion an inspection deal had been finalised.

Brazil's ministry of science and technology said on Wednesday it had agreed with the U.N. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on an inspection plan that addressed Brazilian fears of industrial espionage at the Resende plant in Rio de Janeiro state, a spokesman for the ministry told Reuters.

But the IAEA would not confirm this. snip

"This place needs to be under supervision 24/7 (24 hours a day, seven days a week) to make sure there's no diversion," the diplomat said. "We'll probably need monitoring cameras there."

But the Brazilians have said they do not want visual inspections of certain sensitive parts of the plant.
