Hatch accuses Kerry of undermining U.S. troops
snip>
Hatch, speaking during an interview on the Fox News Channel, said terrorists could be expected to do all they can in the coming months to topple Bush and get Kerry elected.
“We just have to hold firm, stand strong and quit bad-mouthing what's going on over there so that our young men and women who are serving don't lose their faith and heart,” Hatch said.
When asked if he believes that Kerry's challenge of the Bush administration's policy in Iraq amounted to not supporting soldiers, Hatch responded: “That's exactly what's happening here.
“If you look at what they're saying on the other side of this equation and this presidential race, they're consistently saying things that I think undermine our young men and women who are serving over there.”
The Democratic National Committee, in response, sent out a statement from Nita Martin, a Pennsylvania mother and registered Republican whose two sons have served in Iraq........MORE....

41. So how does he manage to stay in the Senate?
Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 03:50 PM by Why
Obviously there are a significant number of crazy fools who do take him seriously. I mean, in a rational world, people like that would never get the time of day, but we don't live in a rational world, so we have to endure people like Hatch, Tom DeLay, Bill Frist, George W. Bush, and so on and on and on...

12. Hatch DID shut up
Nina Martin shut him up:

“Before one of my sons left, he went online to buy himself a helmet that would better protect him than the one which was issued to him by the U.S. military,” she said. “If anybody doesn't support the troops it's George W. Bush. He sent my sons to war with no plan. They were ill-prepared and the result is more and more casualties every day.”

Martin said one of her sons is a reservist who was in the first wave into Iraq. The other is a career Marine who was deployed more than a year after Bush spoke on the USS Lincoln in front of a banner that read “Mission Accomplished.”

Hatch's spokesman declined to respond to Martin's criticism.

10. Wasn't it Orrin?
Wasn't it Orrin who couldn't get in front of a camera fast enough to let everyone know what an insider he is just after the September 11 attacks? He shot his fool mouth off about how the U.S. knew the culprit was Al Qaeda, because as a member of the Intelligence Committee, he was privy to the information that the U.S. was monitoring Al Qaeda's cell phone conversations. Right after that, Al Qaeda quit using cell phones.

Thanks, Orrin. You're a charter member of Douchebags for Liberty.

15. I think they got the headline wrong.
Instead of "Hatch accuses Kerry of undermining U.S. troops" it should read:

"Hatch undermines United States Constitution; calls for limiting free speech"

These republicans are getting bolder about stating that a vote for Kerry is a vote for Al Queda - I've heard it more and more the last week or so. It needs to be answered each and every time they say it, naming the anti-American asshole who said it, and questioning their commitment to their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. By publically saying such an outrageous thing they are trying to influence the election - the very thing they accuse OBL of doing and that point should be made clearly.

:grr:

Edited on Thu Sep-23-04 12:12 PM by Toby109
was going to start with this. These kind of unAmerican accusations have been a staple of the Repubs for years and it has been escalating rapidly since 9/11.

Expect more of the same from DeLay, Santorum, et.al.

I'm reasonably sure that U.S. soldiers in Iraq realize the clusterfuck they find themselves in. They don't need to be told.

Senator, His Son Get Boosts From Makers of Ephedra
Orrin Hatch has kept regulators at bay and benefited via campaign
donations. Lobbyists linked to his son have received $2 million.

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-ephedra5mar05,1,3791109.story?coll=la%2Dhome%2Dheadlines

WASHINGTON -- For more than a decade, the dietary supplements industry
has counted on Sen. Orrin G. Hatch to fend off tighter regulation of
products such as ephedra, the controversial stimulant linked to more
than 80 deaths - most recently a young Baltimore Orioles baseball
player.
