"We are succeeding in Iraq," Allawi tells US Congress
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi told a joint session of the US Congress that elections would be held in Iraq (news - web sites) as scheduled in January and that despite a tough struggle "we are succeeding."

"I know that some have speculated even doubted whether this (January election) date can be met," Allawi said. "So let me be absolutely clear. Elections will occur in Iraq on time in January because Iraqis want elections on time."

Speaking in English after receiving a warm, standing ovation, Allawi told the chamber: "We are succeeding in Iraq. It's a tough struggle with setbacks, but we are succeeding.

"My friends, today we are better off. You are better off. And the world is better off without Saddam Hussein (news - web sites)," Allawi said. "Your decision to go to war in Iraq was not an easy one but it was the right one."......more

6. Although I gotta say, it's a sad day when someone for whom
english is like, his third language speaks more eloquently than the frickin' President of the United States. Nothing new. But sad.

9. Why just a few days ago, Allawi said
that he didn't see any way elections could be held in January with the violence in the country, and that if the elections were held anyway and didn't include the whole country, they wouldn't be accepted by the people. With beheadings still going on and soldiers still being killed, seems nothing has changed since he said that.

Is this just another Bush cheerleading speech? Seems so..

10. Allawi's speech "interrupted by applause on numerous occasions"
Bi-partisan applause?

Any Democrat in Congress applauding this fake CIA president installed by a fraudulent war based on phony intelligence is simply dumber than a shit sandwich. Each round of applause is 1) going to be used as propaganda to keep Americans from questioning the war and 2) to help reelect Bush.
