Document Scanners Make Debut at Airports
Thu Sep 23, 9:05 AM ET

CHICAGO - A new device that scans documents for traces of explosives has made its debut at four of the nation's busiest airports, where officials will use it to screen selected passengers.

Federal security screeners started testing the equipment Wednesday at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago.

It is also being used at Los Angeles International Airport, John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and Washington Reagan National Airport to detect chemical residue on the surface of items such as wallets, passports and airline boarding passes.

2. hm.... okay, most US currency has traces of coke and opiates on it.
I'm assuming that explosives are pretty high on that list, too. So are we no longer allowed to fly with money in our pockets?

4. Why would you advertise this?
Wouldn't it be better for people not to know right out so you MIGHT catch a few terrorist off-guard?

The odd part is I think most terrorist know that the 9/11 plane idea was a one time deal...after that we would be a bit better prepared for another attack and have better precautions in place to stop either an attack or a person from carrying out an attack via a bomb on board.

But then there is "Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again" So I might be giving too much credit where its not due
