Commercial foreclosure listings up in Dallas-FW

Foreclosure postings of commercial real estate in the Dallas area for the first 10 months of 2004 are 25 percent higher than this time last year, Foreclosure Listing Service Inc. reported Wednesday.

There have been 1,053 commercial postings filed this year, compared to 844 during the same period last year, the Addison-based company reported. The report covers Dallas, Tarrant, Denton, Collin and Rockwall counties.

George Roddy, president of Foreclosure Listing Service Inc., said commercial posting activity within the area has surpassed the 1,032 postings filed for all of last year.

1. While Real Estate Prices Have Soared in U.S., Dallas Has Seen Declines
This story only touches on the commercial real estate market, but the residential real estate market in Dallas has not seen any of the appreciation seen on average around the U.S.

Where residential properties here in Southern California have soared between 20-30% per year, Dallas has seen a net decrease in the last year.

And a gratuitous quote from the Brinkman CEO about how he plans to hire hundreds of thousands of people next month.
